    Good Points: easy to use
    sound + video
    looks nice

Bad Points: battery time is very low

General comments: This Canon PowerShot A300 is my first digital camera and i found it very easy to use. I didn't know that there was a movie option available and so i was pleasantly surprised. the only bad thing about it is that the batteries get used up very fast. I had to buy long life rechargeable batteries for it and they still get used up quickly. i think that most digital camera are like that though.

The Canon PowerShot A300 is my first digital camera, and i have had it for about 7 months. i love it because it is so easy to use, the type of camera that you can just pull out and start taking pictures with. despite its rather bulky size (compared to other digital cameras i have seen), it is still very light and handy to use.

the only bad thing about it, i think, is the low battery life. however this depends on the batteries and not on the camera itself. if you use this camera, make sure yo ...

I have enjoyed using this Canon PowerShot A300 Digital camera as a point and shoot and found that using the amanual settings have enhanced the picture quality no end.

Without using the flash the picture quality is great, with it on automatic it will flash when it is still light enough for it not to be used and can make the picture look rather garish.

It is very large and platicky in comparison to other cameras on the market, but despite initial impressions it is very sturdy.

    The batteri ...

The Canon PowerShot A300 Digital camera is good generally with good quality picture but not at night which the picture quality is very poor if you use it at night, i'm not sure its about the setting or what cause i have tried to use many settings but still the same. The battery life is poor if you are using ordinary battery but after using rechargeable battery it's better.

The Canon PowerShot A300 is a really good digital camera. It has the ordinary *auto* mode that enables it to be used as a simple point and click family camera, and also boasts numerous manual settings that can be defined by the more serious amatuer.
On standard shots the results are excellent, Macro (close-ups) of down to 1-2inches are razor sharp and extremely good quality.
The digital zoom is certainly adequate to cover most needs although obviously not as good as an optical zoom, but at the ...

I bought Canon PowerShot A300 as a Christmas gift for someone new to digital cameras and was told it was the perfect first camera. It was embarrassing that after 20 minutes the batteries died, I thought there was a problem but we went through 3 sets of AA batteries in 2 days.

The camera is too complex to figure out without the instructions and the batteries don't last long enough to let you experiment. After a week of frustration I exchanged it for the Nikon Coolpix 2500, which promises to b ...

The bad thing about this is that the batteries don't last any longer than 10 - 20 minutes. 20 minutes if your lucky. This is on the normal alkaline batteries and even though the booklet states that it should last 90 minutes - it doesnt! Also doesn't help if the sales assistant gives you the impression that the pack comes with recharger. Other than that I think its good. Interface is a bit complicated at first.

The Canon A300 can compete with some of the best 3.2 megapixels cameras available today in terms of picture quality. No, it does not have an optical zoom lens, just a great wide angle lens (33mm equivalent) that one uses most of the time anyway.
Don't be disappointed and buy a more expensive camera expecting better picture quality than this little camera can deliver, you would be wasting your money. Except for picture softness in the extreme corners - the sharpness, detail and low noise are d ...
