I love the Sony Mavica MVC FD88 camera. It takes wonderful pictures. I can download them right to my computer from the floppy disk. It's very easy to use. I hate that they have discontinued making this camera. I'll keep mine as long as I can still buy the floppies. (I think they are becoming obsolete as well, though)

I used this Sony Mavica MVC FD88 digital camera at my middleschool in Oklahoma. It was new and very cool. I would say that the cameras good points are that it uses a floppy disk, which was great for me on the yearbook staff to directly transfer it with easy accessibilty. Re-chargeable batteries is a plus, and 1.3 pixels was okay. The 16x zoom is probably the best feature. I enjoy also the different picture effects, black and white, solarize, neg art, sephia. The set time option is also very nice. You can tell probably that I liked this camera. Oh well.

I received this Sony Mavica MVC-FD88 Digital camera as a gift. New they run about $400-$500 but it is an older camera so it is hard to find it new. A good used one you might be able to get for around $250-$350 on eBay with some good accessories. It takes good pictures and the black and white feature is nice to take older looking pictures. The battery Pack is nice because you don't have to go buying AA batteries when they die. I have 2 battery packs and a carrying case for mine with the charger of course. One feature that I really like is the Movie ability of it. You can take a 60 second movie WITH voice for family or for selling things on eBay (is what I do). Say if you had a car or motorcycle you wanted to sell on eBay this would be great to let the buyer see and HEAR what they are buying in real time. I tried it once and it sold my item right away. The storage however is not that great it can only use the 3.5" floppies that you computer takes. But don't get me wrong though that can be a good thing to. You dont have to buy any special card reader and for those who don't use computers all that much all you have to do is take the disk out of the camera and put it in the computer tower where the 3.5" disks go. I recommend the High Density or Heavy Duty the 1.44mb disks. You can only get about 10-15 pictures on one disk but they disks don't cost alot which is nice. You can buy them in bulk from Costco. The things that this camera can do is more than enough compensation for the limited disk space. It is a 1.3 Mega Pixel Camera with a 16x digital zoom. The LCD Display is nice and has a back light. Built in flash. Has an AV out. The access buttons are nice on it and easy to use. I would recommend this to a person just getting started in Digital pictures because the features are there for later use but it is simple enough to start with. Yes you can find cheaper Digital Cameras but when your ready to upgrade you have already put out the money for your first camera that doesn't have much for features. This one is easy to use but when your ready you can use the advanced features later but not have to pay more for another camera. Overall I like this camera. I would recommend it to beginners and intermediate users. It is simple but yet has good features.
