Good Points: Full Metal Jacket is a great war film with some exceptional acting performances.
Bad Points: I rarely watch the second half of the film
General comments: Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket is the story of ordinary Americans being turned into killing machines and sent to war. The first half of the film is both hilarious and harrowing as Ermey knocks his new recruits into shape. I tend only to only watch this half of the film now as i mainly enjoy Ermey's and Onofrio's performances and they are a joy to watch over and over again. I don't know why but the film kind of loses me from then on, i don't find it as gripping or entertaining and don't watch it. I do however, highly recommend this film, the first half of the film alone would make this one of the best films ever made and the second half suffers from what came before more than anything.
