Saving Private Ryan is the best War movie I have seen. Very realistic and detailed right down to the German and American service coats. The premise of locating one individual named "Ryan" would seem not conducive to a great movie but Spielberg does a terrific job. The movie uses special effects with movement (just prior to action scenes the actors move a little more quickly) which enhances the overall effect of the movie. The movie ends in a non-traditional, realistic, way which is refreshing. Saving Private Ryan depicts WW II in a dramatic fashion. I highly recommend this movie.

Another epic movie. Tom Hanks's role is perfect as the platoon leader in this WW2 movie.

Among the best parts is the landing at Omaha beach on D-Day, and, at the start, Veteran (Private) Upham remembering the war grave of his commanding Captain (played by Tom Hanks).

Fighting scenes are pretty realistic (and graphic) so it fits in with the setting of a WW2 theme (let's face it, WW2 was NOT all fun war games).

This is a remarkable film that you never get bored of, and will watch again & again.

Brilliant film. Im quite into the war film genre, and I must say that after films like Apocolypse Now I didnt thing any of the more modern films would cut the mustard, but Saving Private Ryan is definitely an exception to that.

Its the sort of film you really want to watch again. Its the exact right mix of action footage, indepth character potrayal and excellent plot

I doubt many haven't seen it, but if you're one of them, and you even remotely like this genre, its a must see in my opinion

Awesome movie! Saving Private Ryan is one of those movies that when you've finished watching it, you're sat on your sofa with your mouth wide open, thinking to yourself that was amazing.

Right from the start you're thrown into the harrowing reality of what those service men went through during World War 2.

The action scenes are incredible, sometimes too realistic, but designed in a way to really make you think and appreciate the harsh environment of war.

The story detailing the rescue mission for Private Ryan is well written, and Tom Hanks plays a superb part. If you haven't seen this movie, set aside a few hours and get stuck in.

Saving Private Ryan is so realistic, it shows the harshess and reality of warfare. They were not afraid to show blood and gore, because that's what you saw back then. It wasn't pretty. I love the quote:'And I quote, I pray that our heavenly father may have swayed the anguish of this tragic loss and I leave you with only the cherrished memory of the loved and lost. I Love the movie and can watch it a thousand Times over! Love It!

“This is an utterly, utterly brilliant film. ”

This is an utterly, utterly brilliant film.
The way it is filmed, i.e. as if you are there as a soldier, is ultra-realistic and so are the special effects. I think for realism this is the best war film. When the Allied troops have just landed and are trying to take the beach you watch through the eyes of a soldier and see people in front of you having a conversation, and suddenly there is an explosion and the guy's arm is gone and he starts screaming! It is amazingly realistic.

I think the film tailed off at the end a bit to be honest, and I didn't like the fact that Tom Hanks' character died but this doesn't really detract from the fact that this is a brilliant film and a totally unique cinematic experience. This is definitely a film to see.

One last point, this film takes all the perceived glamour out of war, i.e. the knife fight near the end (people who have seen it probably know what I mean) which is a bit unusual I think and this fact adds to the experience of this blockbuster film.

Saving Private Ryan is a none stop edge of your seat film. The actual length of the film felt like minutes because it flowed so well. A typical Tom Hanks masterpiece!

Saving Private Ryan deeply moved me, and I really began to see the reality and harshness of war. The way this movie is done is unlike any other war movie I've seen before. Tom Hanks does a wonderful job in the search for private Ryan, and his crew that accompanies him does a fine job of portraying ragged soldiers. The troop must find Private Ryan and bring him back to his mother before he is killed like the other 2 of his brothers.

Great action and music. Nothing seems unrealistic or fake.

Buy this movie for an inspiring war movie, and you will never regret it.

Saving Private Ryan is by far the best war film ever. The film has the best effects in any war film I've seen and the main actor Tom Hanks suits the perfect role as well as an appearence from Vin Diesel. This film is highly addictive and has the best effects ever. The film can be put on 5.1 digital surround sound which makes the room rumble! By far the best film ever made and represents one of the greatest days in history: D-Day!

Saving Private Ryan has to be one of the best war movies I have ever seen. It has a good story line and it has the gore of war (unlike most war movies!) without going over the top and making you want to turn off the sound or something. Overall I think this is a very succesful film and I will continue watching it.
