I had bad experiences with my C42 printer. It was a sale when I bought this printer and I trusted that Epson was quite a good brand. Well, it can print alright but I wasn't thrilled with the print quality. My old HP printer could print better.
The ink consumption was just average. I only used this printer for 2 months and gave it to my in-laws. I think they don't scrutinize print quality that much so it would be good for them. =)

For its size this printer is really great. I used to play crown green bowls and one season we won a cup final. I got one of the opposing team to take a photo of our team. The camera was only a 2.1g Fuji. When I showed the team the photo that was taken they didn't believe it was done on an inkjet printer, the Epson C42 Plus. I would thoroughly recommend this printer to anyone.

The Epson C42 Plus is easy to use, easy to change cartridges and great value for money.

Easy 2setup and use, ok print quality and a nice cheap printer... All in all its a good cheap nice quality printer that works 90% out of 100% and ink is cheap for it.. well recommend Epson C42 Plus, paper jams sometimes even if you have sorted the paper out but that's the problem with most printers. Cleaning the nozel takes time and sometimes wastes paper.

I purchased this Epson C42 printer for home use. I found that the ink cartridges ran out very quickly and cost a lot to replace. I tended to use my printer quite a bit at home and was amazed at how quickly I was going through the ink. I use Hewlett Packard Laserjet 4 printer. It's great. The only thing it is black and white only. When it is of no longer use I will invest in a colour/black/white printer, with perhaps a scanner, photocopier, but at the moment it's fine.

Epson C42 Plus is an excellent printer in my opinion as its great value for money, intact the only bad thing I have to say about it is the shape and size as I am slightly annoyed. However still recommend this Epson printer.

Good purchase, especially for the price.

    Great for everyday use.
Really cheap on ink cartridges (only £10 for 5 back and 5 colour).
It is probably the best out there for general home use.

Simply rubbish. I really do hope the Epson C42 Plus are no longer for sale but, just in case anybody spots one on e-bay for a quid... don't bother, it's not worth paying even that much.
In the three years I have owned this excuse of a printer I have tried to print out a photo just once. It was so poor I felt that trying again would be too depressing for words.
Fortunately I only really bought it for printing the occasional bit of text. Even so I have spent many times the original cost of the p ...

Epson C42 Plus: I am thinking that some of the people who had bad results on there printing had got one of the following wrong. 1 Paper. 2 Ink source. 3 Settings. 4 Resolution of camera. I have a Fuji 3800 at 3.1 mega pixels set on 3.1 normal.

I have had a Epson C42ux now for 3 years and it is now starting to break, it is good if you want a fairly cheap printer for simple stuff. DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER FOR PRINTING PHOTOS BECAUSE IT IS RUBBISH FOR THAT!!!

I bought the Epson C42 Plus printer quite cheap alongside a new laptop and scanner, and thank god I hadn't paid much for it. It was retailing at around £70 but it wasn't even worth the £25 I paid.

Right from the start the quality has been questionable - and I have only had one printer before and am not exactly an expert but I could still notice it - the white lines cutting through my text, the pink tint to photographs and so on.

Not to mention the way that it will monitor your ...

I'd like to revisit my earlier review of the Epson C42 Plus Inkjet Printer with the benefit of hindsight after using this excuse for a printer for over a year. When I first purchased the printer, I gave it a '7' because of the low purchase price and 'good for the money' print quality. However, this initial enthusiasm didn't take long to wear off. But where to begin?...

I've already mentioned the ridiculous 'intellichip' cartridge system in my earlier review. This effectively 'guesses' whe ...

I purchased this Epson C42 Plus Inkjet Printer from PC World for about £35 at least two year ago, it was a customer return, new in the box with the demo cartridges.

In all this time it has served me well, I have not had any problems with it whatsoever.

Inkrite replacement cartridges are all I use in this printer. They cost a fraction of the price of Epson cartridges.

With having a digital camera I bought the Epson c42 so that I could print good photo's. I have always owned an epson printer and have been very pleased with the finished results but this c42 printer turned out to be a lemon. The print quality is extremely dull even on enhanced using epson ink, the printer is very slow and very noisey. I don't know if I just got a bad one but I would not recomened the c42 to anyone, (my other printer is a c62 and this is a brilliant printer)

print quality for the Epson C42 Plus is on a par with other home/office inkjets. nothing spectacular by today's standards but something you'd have paid £100's for only a few years back. available for around £60-70 now, so you can't complain.

my one major gripe with epson's new printers is their 'intellichip' cartridges. there is a chip embedded in the cartridge which supposedly monitors ink levels. in actuality, this chip is not electrically connected to the cartridge in any wa ...

This Epson C42 Plus performed exceptionally well. I bought it two weeks back and i haven't had any problems yet. Ink cartridge shows the same level of ink it did when i bought. One other good thing is that they give you sample glossy photo papers and photo quality ink jet papers along with the printer in the box. It uses the USB cable for easy plug and play, so those who've got xp dont really need to install drivers from the cd, except for the printer software. Another pro is that cartridges ar ...

This was the worst £60 I've ever spent. The machine was very noisy, exceptionally slow, the print heads block regularly, paper feed gets jammed (it sometimes tries to feed several sheets at once, cartridges are expensive and generally I hate it!
This machine will soon find its way to the tip, I don't know which printer to buy next, but one thing is for sure, it wont be an Epson.
