Pass on my advice. Save your money for the bells and whistles and memory - you'll be glad you did. Don't recommend Dell Dimension Laptop...

The Dell Dimension 4500 is a good cookie cutter computer for someone who does not wish to upgrade, and just wants to piddle through the internet at snail like speeds. Even the XPS is a joke. Do yourself a favor, and just buy a book on how to build computers for dummies. Its much more satisfying in the end.

If you compare it to the market of today (in Fall 2006), it's nothing to rave about. But if you aren't aspiring to be ranked in the top 5 of Unreal Tournament Masters worldwide, then don't scoff at this one. It's a good deal as a refurbished bargain in my opinion, so long as it doesn't have rubbish all over it, and even then, it's nothing a good formatting can't fix.

The DELL dimension 4500 is a family computer with Microsoft Works Suite 2002, Dell Picture Studio and 16X DVD-ROM drive. it has HK-395 speakers and mine came with a sub. The graphics need upgrading but it is OK for online gaming. I upgraded mine to a Ge NVIDIA 5500 128MB which works great. It is however quite pricey for the features ($1450). You definitely need to upgrade the memory and the hard drive to around 140GB which might cost a pretty penny. MUCHOMAN'S FINAL VERDICT: DONT BUY THIS WHAT ...

The Dell Dimension 4500 is not a bad computer system out of the box, but 1 year on the machine just keeps getting slower and slower, I have filled the H/D up to 40% of a 40gig drive, maybe its XP but I'm dissapointed compared with my mates MESH, I have upped the RAM to a gig, am now looking for a another H/D and graphic card.
Would I buy another, not for the money for home use but for business use it would be fine.

Having purchased from Dell a couple of years ago, this DELL Dimension 4500 model is disappointing. The case structure is awkward, particularly the front. The components ie DVD, Floppy are cheap and nasty. Access to the operational buttons is very poor. The processor fan on the 1.8 is noisy. The Dell logo panel on the sides of the case vibrate. Expansion and memory slots are also restricted. The Dell logo appears on far to many items. Most annoying is the partitioning of the hard drive to allow ...
