i have the fdh model turbo coupe and its very fast and has the extras like air con i am really happy with my car it sounds fantastic and drives really well very very fast and very low miles on thye clock. got dump valve and super chip and 17in wheels and just the other day had performance exhaust put on and sounds great along with turbo and dump valve. but even the person that fitted the exhaust said its the best he has been in and still so quick only thing wrong is ripple of dent in back passenger...

I think the turbo version is the best car rover ever made, no head gasket trouble, reliable if looked after and serviced regularly. Just like a front wheel drive mr2 really, and looks ace when lowered on 17s. No other car like it, in terms of looks, speed, practicality and that awesome turbo sound....

very fast if you know what your doing easy 250 bhp with just a few bolt on mods. air filter boost valve bov dump valve and steel cage bearings for gearbox.and you will keeping up with wrx not sti scoobys.very nice in the summer take out the roof panels and get that air in your hair feeling.only thing that goes against this car is the fact it is a coupe so seats 4 people only.not bad to run about 30-40 mile per gallon and that is with these mods.plus thing for this car is scooby-cosworth power for...

i own 3 rovers a metro gti on a h reg and 2 220 turbo coupes one on lreg and the other on a nreg there both sitting about 320bhp after alot of cash has been thrown at them lol but i personaly think these machines ar out standing if obviously well loked after and constantly serviced every 6k they will quite happily compete with majority of popular high performance motors such as the focus st and i soon as i put the hammer down there amazed the fact your smoking them all over the shop the only stuff...

Overall Rover is an excelent affordable sporty car with good styleing and comfort, steering is responceive with good feedback from the road, and the car responds extreamly well to a full suspention kit. Did this to mine and has made the car feal a lot more planted to the road, in my view the only modification needed on this car....

They are great cars and dont let anyone tell you otherwise! Some of the oldest cars on the road have a Rover engine in them. My friend has a 600 turbo Rover that's done 287,000 miles and still going strong! Not many cars see that mileage on there clocks!...

Good car, With a lot of humph. Not so comfy when you change the suspension, Watch out for pot holes owch. Good interior, Dont knock the Rover 220 Coupe till you have tried it. If you add a dump valve make sure it's put on the outlet manifold instead of the inlet. In general fantastic car....

95M Rover 220 Coupe 2.0 16v.
An exellent car for the money. Mine cost me £1700 after some hard bargaining. For the money you get plush leather interior, a smooth 2litre engine, a t-bar roof that dont leak and all round good looks. Forget Rovers usuall 'old mans car' tag because the coupe really is for the fully active driver. The steering is pretty naff, i wouldnt recommend thrashing this car round tight bends because the steering wheel tends to spring back pretty hard, but it does...

**Rover 220 Tomcat turbo**
These cars have a lot of power for the money but remember guys you get what you pay for. This car has put me off rovers altoghter. Starting with the bodywork these cars look good from a distance but all you have to do is breath too close to them and you'll see dinks appearing in the body work. Also the paintwork on Rovers is very thin. The power the rover 220 turbo puts out is fantastic but getting that power down properley without wheel spin and torque steer...

I feel this comment was a little unfair.
I've had a Rover 220 for 4 years now. Only work it needed was a new clutch (My Fault) ;-)
And a new head gasket.

Right about the mods though, not a lot needed. BUT
If you get a set of uprated springs and dampers. Replace the Disc's and pads for really good ones (I like Black Diamond or EBC) The car will leave just about any other car in it's class standing as for going round bends etc, well they won't even see your dust...!

Try it ..... !!

Having owned two coupes I feel his experience to be a little unlucky, both my cars have been reliable and like any car if you drive them hard you will have to pay for it. Regular servicing and tender care and you have a car that is one of the best looking and performing cars on the road, make sure the car has a good service history and you`ll have a cracking headturner for not much outlay.

The Rover 220 Coupe is a very nice car. In terms of bang for the buck you won't find much better value for money. Quick off the mark this Rover will hold most things off to the legal limit on urban roads. There is not much discernable lag from the turbo and the power, when it arrives, is more of a hard shove than a kick in the pants. But every silver lining has its cloud. It's a Rover and it's not long (usually a split second after closing the door) that the poor build quality shows through. The...

rover 220s are the best, well mine is anyway. i'm pushing 157mph and 0-60 in a respectable 5.7sec. with my straight through turbo exhaust, power boost valve, induction kit, dump valve, super chip and an amazing turbo. there is no one who can catch me on the roads of birmingham. but most of its down to the driver. i've spent 11grand on my beast and i've being racing for 21years. respect to all 220 owners.
