Good Points: This digital camera gives good value for the money. The flash is a joke, but good enough for fill-in. When the light conditions are good, this camera works like a charm, and even indoor, without flash, the camera is able to make reasonably good pictures. The optics seems to be good, and I have made some good portraits with this camera.

A plus-plus is the macro function, a focal limit of 4 cm can be called macro, both focus and exposure works like a charm even at the closest range.

Considering batteries, the solution is NiMh. With an 128 mb card, these are good for more than 100+ mixed flash/no flash pics. By my standards, this is good, also I get three sets of NiMh for approx USD 15, compared to f.i. the Canon S-20 battery at USD 100 around here, this is a bargain. Also, the Canon battery lasts for less than 30 exposures in an S-20...

Bad Points: Many pictures need a touch-up in the computer afterwards. This seems to be a common thing among digital cameras, and I suppose this camera is not worse than others.

General comments: Apart from the +/- rating, the Minolta Dimage 2330 camera is simple to use. The lack of possibility to store adjustments is by far compensated by the simple, fast-to-use menu system.

All settings needed are included, and the display has enough contrast for everything except bright sunlight. A better resolution would make it possible to use the display to have more control considering the results. A better display would have made this camera a winner.

Also, another flash design (wonder how it is possible to design a flash like this....) and even better, the possibility to use an external flash would have made this camera a very serious competitor to many more expensive cameras.

As is, it is among the best 2.x megapixel digital cameras available, and has all features and the quality needed to meet the demands of any serious amateur who want a digital camera which match the qualities of low- and mid-range compact cameras - except the resolution of 135 mm film of course.

Feels good and a doddle to use. The optical zoom is good and coupled with the digital zoom it's very good. Flash could be better but you can alter the many settings to get a good result. With the USB it's a doddle to download. Dont get serial as its s l o w.All things considered, a good buy.
