HAVING OWNED TWO OF THESE VEHICLES I FEEL JUSTIFIED TO REPORT THE FOLLOWING:

    *CAMSHAFTS AND FOLLOWERS WEAR QUICKLY
*SEVERE PROBLEMS WITH RUST, ERODING PARTS OF CHASSIS AND PARTS FIXED TO IT, FLOOR PANELS AND CILLS.
*BRAKING SYSTEM PRONE TO FAILURE THROUGH VARIOUS REASONS......LOOK OUT!

OVERALL, THIS IS A WELL MADE, HEAVY DUTY VEHICLE, BUT BEWARE IF THE EXPENSIVE MAINTAINANCE SCHEDULE IS NOT RELIGEOUSLY ADHERED TO

    Good size for your money
i like the Mitsubishi Shogun 2.5TDi's style, space ,reliability and safety for half the price of a landrover.

I must confess we bought a 2.5 turbo diesel shogun and very impressed, so far the truck has done much more than expected, our first diesel and would have another tomorrow, This would be on my consideration list if I were going new.

I've got the last of the mark ones on a h reg if I was to buy another pajero when this one ends its life i wouldn't be tempted to going to a 2.8 later model....I would invest in the early mark 2 which has a 2.5 t intercooled lump the same as the mark1. You normally find this model on a late h reg or j reg.

Overall I'm very pleased with the pajero's performance and reliability to this point. It performs very well for what it was made to do - It's an off road machine, easily giving a Toyota Lancruiser a run for its money. However if you stick to mostly driving on pavement and freeways this vehicle will not be you first choice. For the prices they go for I would continue to say that they offer the best value out there in a 4x4.

Can't believe how much you can get for the money. Japanese imports are the best - often very low mileage even for early 90's cars. If mine breaks tomorrow I go out and buy another straight away - love it.

I drive a 1987 Mitsubishi Pajero (Shogun in some markets) 2.5 TD. It is a pre-intercooler version. This venerable verteran now has 472800km on the clock, the engine still runs like a dream, the bodywork is still excellent, and the base has been protected with waxoil. I am extremely happy with my Pajero, it has never left me stranded on-road or off-road. The only negative issue I can identify is that tight turns at slow speeds in 4x4 mode, especially on dry surfaces, is hard work for the front ti ...

I agree with most points made by the previous reviewee on the Mitsubishi Shogun 2.5TDi, and some, generally the car performs very well in all conditions. Just recently returned from a meeting that was held in a large field, on a very steep hill, everybody got in, luckily but when it came to leaving that was a different matter. I have never been 4x4 trained therefore it is mostly hit and miss with me. Still I selected the very low gear/ 4 wheel and diff lock, I was pulling a 2.5 ton trailer and u ...

I have owned my Mitsubishi Shogun 2.5tdi for 4 months now and its by far the best motor ive ever owned. Its my first 4wd but I have driven most others and nothing comes close. I do go off road occasionaly but only tracks and fields and the pajero loves it as much as I do. Im 6ft 4 and I have loads of head and leg room and after a 4hr drive Ive stepped out as frsh as as the start.Tyres are available very reasonably and for a 2 ton plus motor she isnt toooo hard on the fuel.If you want economy, bu ...

I have owned many 4x4 vehicles and about a year ago I found a 1988 Mk1 2.5 LWB Hi-Top for very good money. On the test drive the steering felt VERY light compared to Sportrak I was using at the time, and there was a tendency for straight-line wander which was easy to sort out with a few spanners. The exhaust pipe runs very close to a gearbox mounting so there is a good chance of 'Banging' from underneath when you have a full cabin (7 Adults), or while towing a heavy trailor. The mirror size a ...

I have a Mitsubishi 2.5TD SWB GLS 1993 model. I have always wanted to purchase a shougun and looked everywhere for a decent well looked after model. I found this baby in a garage in preston, the body work was fine, had full service history and had been well looked after. I avarage about 26mpg and you wont get better than that, i try not to be so "Foot-Heavy" when driving the shogun as they can be v.thirsty when thrashed. I dont do any off-road driving with the shogun its a road use vehicle o ...

I have had the Shogun 2.5 gls SWB turbo deisel MK3 now for 12 months. It was purchased mainly to get around the country with the lads moto cross bike on the back. It will easily touch 90 mph but feels more comfortable at about 75 on the motorway. Towing is easy, you forget you have anything on the back!. The drive is superb and a very spacious interior. Adults getting into the rear on the SWB model I have find it a bit difficult.(I must get some side steps !)
    I average about 26mpg, and if I tak ...

I have had my 1992 model Mitsubishi Shogun 2.5tdi for 2 years now, It was hard parting with 6g's to buy a 10 year old car, but I always wanted one so I stumped up the doh and bought one. The good thing is according to market prices it's still worth about the same, so no big depreciaton on older models.
The car is extremely well built and reliable, it has so far never let me down and passed the MOT with no work to be done. This 2.5 model was only build for about 3 years, and I am sure that the 2 ...
