This is perhaps the best from Microsoft. The later versions like Rise of Nations or Age of Mythology has not been up to the mark. AOE has been much more creative & challenging. I hope MS comes up with some more extension for AOE.

Whilst this game isnt your classic arcade type game and could certainly be labelled as a bit 'nerdy' - I absoultely loved playing this game.

Its just one of those fairly simple games that is massively addictive and you end up playing for about 3 times as long as you intended.

The amount of gameplay you get out of it compared to the cost of it makes it one of the best value games I've ever played.

Would recommend to anyone that wants to fill those winter evenings!

I guess I would rate Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings from Microsoft just average. The graphics isn't superb quality, the gameplay is similar with other genres (try playing battle realms).
I guess what I would recommend is Age of Empire III. That one has more quality and superb gameplay.

Overall, this game is for average gamers, instead of this one, try AOE III. You'll enjoy it more.

Age of empires is very very good and I love it so much. I can not stop myself from playing it. I have all the three parts and they all are great.

It gives us a power like we are in the world of kings.

    - Fantastic history and plots
    - Great depiction of Middle Ages
    - Great training (William Wallace)
    - Good graphics
    - Good variety in buildings, infantry, cavalry, siege weapons, etc.
Truly, it is a wonderful and magnificent computer game that I recommend to a tactician or anyone else interested in history.

Bought this game 2 days ago and I am so addicted to it! Played it for 4 hours straight today. The best strategy game I have ever played, And I have tried quite a lot of them. AoE II is definitely worth buying if your into strategy games, Wide range of units, upgrades for your village, and it even has an ONLINE multiplayer! This is one the best things about this game, if your bored doing computers, Get online.

Age of Empires 2 is brilliant, especially with the cheats and the things you get because of the cheats. Would recommend it to a friend.

The Age of Empires 2: The Age of Kings, Microsoft PC game is good but not great. It has bad graphics. It is fun at first, but it eventually gets pretty dull.

Age of Empires 2: The Age of Kings is an amazing game almost equaling Star Craft as a strategy game. The game play is very realistic such as arrows missing its target. There is a wide variety of units to create. The player is also allowed to choose battle formations, thus creating an amazingly realistic game play.

Age of Empires 2: The Age of Kings is such a great and classic RTS game, that even though it was released like 4 years ago, it is still worth to buy. The units and siege weapons of the game look very nice. I also like the idea of ages, which lets you upgrade your units etc. It was a good idea each nation had a uniqiue unit, which made gaming more interesting.

Age of Empires 2: The Age of Kings is by far the best game--strategy or not--ever. It is so worth the money, I bought it almost 2 years ago and I still play it all the time. You can never stop getting better at it. The thing that makes it better mostly is the economy. You can never have enough villagers, nor can you run out of resources. There's like 5 ways to collect food, 3 ways to collect gold, and only 1 for stone and wood. The graphics aren't great because its like 5-6 years old, but i ...

Age of Empires is the excellent strategy series from Microsoft. The Age of Kings is by far the best in the series, even perhaps the best in the gerne. The basics are, you build up an empire in the middle ages where you manage your resources (Food, Wood, Stone & Gold), build up your army (Knights, Infantry, Ships, Siege Weapons etc.) and conquer or befriend allies and enemies.

In this game you can choose from 13 civilizatioms (ranging from British to Goths to Japanese) and build up your empire ...

Age of Empires 2: The Age of Kings will never be beaten by any game of the type. I won the grand prize of $50,000 in the tournament - now where else will a game do that for you.
