Good Points: To me they are just a store like any other with no particular good points coming to mind.
Bad Points: Poor customer service.
General comments: Took my elderly mother to buy a vacuum cleaner last year, it was faulty and the local Comet store replaced it (after phoning Hoover to discover fault was not repairable). The replacement has now broken down (different vac and different fault) and Comet are just not being helpful enough with the result that I have contacted Consumer Direct West Midlands so I can either get Comet to replace or repair it on her behalf.

Having bought a Hotpoint Fridge freezer (FF200EP), it was found not to work. It took 27 minutes on an 0870 number to get answered, to be told it would be 10 days for an engineer to come out. I asked for our money back, but was told that an engineer (10 days) would have to inspect the appliance prior to them accepting it back. 2 managers further on and the time delay was cut to 4 days. i purchased an Lg television 15 weeks ago for £500 on the 29th Feb it broke. A man came on the 4th March with the wrong part. On the 11th March another one came with the wrong part, my parents sat in my house for nearly 6 hours waiting for him, he was supposed to phone when he was coming but didnt, we now have to spend another week without a television. I experienced AWFUL customer service from Comet recently, I bought so many things from this store then a laptop that was always faulty and they left me with it, refusing to refund it because it was a "software issue" when it seemed to me it was a hardware problem and their phone support told me it was a hardware problem and i had to take it back into the store.

7 month old camera faulty, sent by comet to manufacturer for repair.4 weeks later camera returned, manufacturer says nothing wrong with it.I showed a so called manager in comet speke branch what the fault was and he agreed that it was faulty. According to the "customer care" operative the delivery men are only allowed five minutes to install a washer/ dryer and if the pipe has to be fed behind a cupboard they are not allowed to do this. This is not advised to customers when ordering - they are happy to take your money and even happier to leave an unistalled product sitting in the middle of the kitchen.
I will never use Comet again. Bring back the small personal retailer and customer service.

Prices are average, usually find cheaper elsewhere. The big problem is the staff. I've found them pushy during the sale and arrogant after sales if there is any problem. You know what they say "pay peanuts, get monkeys".

Having experienced Comets service in relation to two products, I can honestly say that I have never met with such poor service.
With both my large aplliances they had purchased the guarantee from the manufacturer too - which means I am at the mercy of their engineers and customer service department.
I've just resolved the issue of both items purchased with Comet, but not after many letters and contact with customer services.

I purchased a Teac cx 200 idab docking station from Comet and was refused a price match with Empire Direct because their model which was identical in spec was called an mcdx 220 idab, it was '£10 cheaper at Empire Direact but required a 10 mile drive, so I bought Comets. The sales people were everywhere asking if I needed any assistance in choosing a product. Very fast taking your money, but just one young person bringing what you have purchased from the store room to the collection point. I got so fed up with waiting I got a refund and left the shop. I will not use Comet again.

After purchasing the wrong item (vacuum cleaner which wouldn't work on my wooden floor) because there was no info about it on the box or the display I was charged a restocking fee and charged another £80 for a suitable product. I was told I couldn't get a refund even if I paid the restocking fee.
Fantastic service Comet, I'll be falling over myself to shop with you again.

I bought a mobile phone from Comet (York store). After 3 months, it accrued only a minor fault. I sent it back to them for repair under warranty, only to be told 2 weeks later, and by me chasing it up, that the warranty was void due to water ingress. The phone hasn't been anywhere near rain or water!! I will never shop at Comet again! I will try Currys instead.
