This is probably my favourite of all the air rifles i have owned, even better still is that i swapped it for the blade vhs trilogy :) So value for money is top notch as i also got the blade trilogy for christmas, lol! Its good accuracy and pretty stable, although sometimes it does give a little kick occasionaly but nothing that makes much difference to accuracy. The only downside is i found that the stock wasnt very sturdy and snapped. Got it replaced with a stronger stock and had it a... (read more)

The Webley Xocet is a fantastic rifle. I remember buying this rifle second hand for 25 quid. Little did i know the kind of bargain i had just gained. Easy to handle good power and great spring. would definitely recommend it to a friend or anyone who is interested in learning to target shoot. The perfect beginers rifle and still fun when experienced. (read more)

Webley Xocet - It may be that the spring damper has shattered. The spring damper looks like a big rawlplug ang fits into the back of the spring.I cut the remaining bits off the broken plastic flange filed the end square and replaced it with an adapted bath tap washer (yeh really).Gun is really accurate now with no crazy inconsistenciies like 'how did I miss that shot. It will get me through until I can source a new damper, anyone help??

With the xocet you would be better off with a heavier pellet and I would also reccomend teflon coating the barrel and or using a pellet lube if this doesn't help then the only other thing I think it could be is a bur in the spring chamber which can catch on the sping giving you a varied power in the shots which would explain the problem with the accuracy. If you are not confident with dismantling the rifle then take it to your nearest firearms dealer and they will look at it for you. They don't usually charge much to do this and all it normally takes to fix this problem is a quick file down, at most it will mean a replacement chamber which is at most £50

I bought this gun as a first gun and was impressed with the handling and good looks of the gun. It was .22 caliber and I intended to use it for hunting. At first I could get fairly tight groups but they steadily got worse. After several frustrating months I found the breech was loose in the cylinder. This was the cause of the rifles inaccuracy which was terrible by this time. The power was also well down. The rifle wasn't even capable of shooting through a tin can at 15 yards. I eventually... Hi,

and these airguns are very useful for rabbit control, mine is good handling and reliable.

BUT...rabbit at 60 yards? The Olympic shooting team are waiting for your call ! The pellet drop at 60 yards is a good 6 inches so with some wind and human input, not realstic. You'd only wound at this range and if this is ok with you, sell the gun now.
I bought the Webley Xocet gun recently, and have been very pleased with it since. after a bit of zeroing, I (not that steady) could easily "plink" a small can at 25 yards. The other great thing about this gun is its power - it'll go through a thick paint can at 20 yards with ease and carry on going, (you need space), and i'm sure ( never tried, i shoot targets!) it would cleanly kill a big bunny at up to 40/50 yards. As this Webley Xocet was my first gun I thought it was awesome. I found it really good to learn the ABC of hunting with. First of all it is fair to give you an understanding of my own level of competence / experience with air rifles also my better than average understanding of mechanics and physics, for I do not profess to be an expert on Air Guns or for that matter, shooting.

Hi Jeff,

I look forward to bumping into you sometime at Pete's...

Impressed with the Xocet review. Am getting a bit fed up with having to get out the stirrup pump and charge up my S400 to be honest. May invest in another springer, or a divers tank at least in the not too distant future....

As a past owner of a Vulcan, I'm glad to see that Webley are still doing the business.

My first ever 'new' air rifle, back in 1984 however, was a Theoben Scirocco and though it was a great gun in it's way, I have come across springers that are it's equal. The recoil is reduced it's true but the gas ram has a different 'feel' that some shooters can't get along with.

Have heard lots of reports that the HW90 and Theoben Evolution have certain.... issues...

The spring, recoilless, rifles about at the moment sound interesting though. RWS ???
Good shooting and regards.

Excellent tech review very helpful I have just bought mine (my 1st proper one) I'm impressed by the whole feel of this gun, nice in your hands and well balanced. My only worry is that on dewy mornings is the stock going to be hard to grip when wet? Jeffsarn's Response to Jeffsarn's Review

Written on: 09/08/2005

Hi Wild Willie, Rollo.

Re Smoke:

Just keep using the gun, The excessive smoke is due to the factory lube in front of the piston. eventually it will stop. After a 1000 rounds or so, give it a good clean, pay attention to the clevis pin joint at the front of the cocking leaver, press some high melting point grease into this joint and lube the gate with suitable oil.

I dismantled the entire gun, cleaned and lubed all components (excluding the piston and cylinder), I found that dismantling the trigger assembly, and refitting it with plenty of grease went a long way to improving the feel of the trigger.

Pete's Airgun Farm, Pete is a great bloke, fair and very helpful, the indoor range is comftable, there is a radio, heating, lighting and plenty of magazines to read if you fancy a break. There are benches with seating and plenty of cushions for either your rifle or your bum! there are plenty of knockdowns and you can arrange the range as it suits you, there are plenty of mobile backstops for your own paper targets (I advise you take along your own roll of tape) it is well marked out for range both along the floor and at a glance you will see a series of boards suspended from the sealing, again marked with their range.

Outside there are a couple of benches from there you can take your pick of 15 or so knockdowns they vary from about 15 yards to 67!

If you have insurance you can ask if its ok to stroll around the 500 acre vermin shoot, there are purpose build hides dotted around the place, and Pete will issue you with your own map. If you are uncertain of the lie of the land, Pete encourages you to phone him to make sure you are in the right place.

All in all this is a great venue, Pete is a great bloke and I look forward to my next visit.

Hope the above helps.

Thanks for the points on the Gas Ram Rollo, if anyone else has something to say on that subject I would appreciate it.

P.S. The gun just gets better every time I use it.

Happy Shooting
I bought this Webley Xocet air rifle second hand from my best friend and was instantly impressed, once you've got this thing you can get deadly groupings. This rifle is not a heavy rifle to carry around and even though this thing is 6 years old and has never had a new spring it is still capable of dispatching rabbits very humanley at 20 metres, going in one side of a pidgeons head and out the other and passing a pellet clean through a rat! I got my Webley Xocet Air Rifle today from a local shop in Bristol. It came fitted with a silencer and scope. It looks so high quality, everything is uniform and the stock looks lovely.

I find the best way to hold the exocet is with a light grip i.e. tight enough to keep the rifle steady but loose enough to let it recoil freely upon firing as is the case with most springers.
i find webley lasadomes one of the best pellets for the exocet they are also ideal for hunting.
As for distances so long as you can hit a 3/4inch target at the distance you plan to shoot every time any distance is fine upto 40yards max there will be a site somewhere that shows you the kill zones on particular quarry i pressume you will be hunting rabbits in which case the kill zone is in the area between the eye and bottom of the ear although like i said i recommend you do a search and learn exactly where the kill zone is on your intended quarry

Steve - I find that H&N Field and Target Trophy pellets are excellent with the Xocet. Good accuracy, excellent penetration and damage. They feel slightly oily (?), so I'm sure they must be doing something benficial for your rifle, whilst destroying your targets! You should be able to pick them up for approx £6 for 500. Happy hunting :-)

carlronchi....so you thought the Cometa felt cheap compared with the Webley.
Well, seeing as there's a forty quid price differential I'm not surprised. (J S Ramsbottom's prices.)

I can assure you that the Cometa's performance matches the Webley. Longevity? Only time will tell.

Bought 2 .22 Webley Xocet carbines, one each for me and my son, after much research and many phone calls. Bargain at £139 from Blackpool Air Rifles! I can honestly say, I made the right choice. Plain classic lines, solid but not too heavy, it feels right even before the first shot. Using Haendler & Natermann Field and Target Trophy pellets - to test the accuracy straight out of the box, I put 2 pellets through the hole of a mini coke can at 10-12 yards, followed by a quarter inch grouping...
