Good Points: Very economical and cheap to run, and with its small size, can fit into small parking spaces and squeeze through small gaps whereas a big 4x4 cannot. The engine is easy to maintain and returns a good mpg.
Bad Points: We find it tends to wheel spin rather easy and its even worse in the wet. The engine is only 1.0L but the 155x70 r13 tyres recommended by the manufacturer just don't give sufficient grip.
General comments: Overall the Micra is a great car. It has a struggle keeping up with the big boys but, as long as its serviced regularly then it will never let you down. We have had only had 2 times where ours wouldn't start, and I believe it was down to dirty fuel. The Micra is very reliable and is ideal for a first car. The one problem I have is that I'm 5ft 11 and my seat won't go back far enough for me to be completely comfortable, so long journeys can be a bit of a discomfort. But hey I love my Micra.

The Micra or March K11 series year 2000 is a very good and dependable family car.
This car is technically sound and very reliable. It's also quite economical.

I have owned my 1998 1.3GX Micra for three years. Its probably the meanest looking factory built model, with black paint, tinted glass, sun roof, sports alloys and fat (stuck on a standard exhaust) exhaust finisher. I find the 1.3 engine punchy and responsive in the city, and surprisingly powerful and long legged on the motorway. I think Nissan got the design perfect with this model. It just looks right, with its tough compact body and clean simple lines. The all round visibility is the best of ...

I had to buy a car that would suit the wife and our new-born baby. Budget was not an isssue in this purchase. We were simply looking for a vehicle that would suit them for pottering about and doing their bits and bobs.
We looked at several cars including the Nissan Micra, Ford Ka, Vauxhall Corsa and Peugeot 107.
After test driving them all, we agreed the Nissan Micra suited us and contentrated our search upon this vehicle.
At this time we knew exactly what we were after and started to l ...

Does anyone know if the 1.4 16v engine out of the Almera fits the Micra? I'm after upgrading the engine. I got a quote for a turbo conversion and it'll cost aprox 3k to get 165 bhp from the 1.0 16v.

I had a K10 (square micra) for 3 years which was really reliable. Then I got a fiesta, which was not. Now I have a '98 version (revised headlights) Nissan Micra K11 1.0l GX spec. I do a lot of driving for work in town and in the country. I find that, despite being sub 1litre, the little micra has enough poke to keep up with the traffic and really does not mind being revved. It has only not started twice (dodgy battery terminal) in 12 months. The car is easy to park but the boot does not seem as ...

My Nissan Micra K11 "Wave" Limited edition (just as well with a silly name like that) is probably the most reliable car I've ever owned. I won it in a Supermarket promotion in 1994 and it has covered 85,000 trouble free miles since then.
I have just fitted new alloy wheels with wider tyres and the handling is even better!

The Nissan Micra K11 1.0l city car performs well whether in town where it is nippy, responsive, and lively, or on the motorway where it is steady and has a good cruising speed.
I have both an automatic 1995 Micra and a geared 1997 Micra. The auto is a little bit slow on the accelerator, both in response time (about 1 second delay) and acceleration. The manual is faster and far more fun to drive!!
The brakes on the manual are responsive and quite powerful, so that is definetly a plus.

My Nissan Micra K11 1.0l City Car just keeps on going and going! Never fails to start first time and takes me anywhere regardless of weather conditions. I have driven mine through treacherous snow conditions in Germany, and never had any problems (only have normal standard tyres fitted)
The only problems I have ever had were:
I replaced the front brakes at 109,000Km
I had a high speed steering wobble, which dissapeared after getting the wheels balanced, and now the washer system on the front ...

I've had one of the earliest UK-built Micras since new (1993/L). The
Nissan Micra K11 1.0l is very comfortable, even on a 6-hour non-stop journey. Drivers seat still not sagging after 66,000 miles & 11 years with a 13-stone driver. Never uses or leaks oil. Only trouble has been faulty Blaupunkt stereo replaced under warranty, dim-dip lights played up a couple of times, crossmember rusted after 9-years, tyre shred tread after 53,000 miles!
998cc engine really is capable, because it's twin-cam ...

I was advised to buy a Nissan Micra because it is supposed to be the most reliable small car on the road but I must say I have not found this to be the case with my own model - an automatic Nissan Micra K11 1.0l, N reg. This is only my second car after an automatic Rover Metro 1.4 K reg, which did have tinny bodywork but never let me down (until someone smashed into the back of me and drove off (writing off said car).
With the Micra I've had a lot of electrical problems and also distributor pr ...

I am a driving instructor and my Nissan Micra K11 1.0l has a hard life, sadly it is not up to the job,I spend 8-10 hours a day inside it, the seats are uncomfortable, the 1.0 litre engine is useless going up hills, the clutch is too sensitive, I have the tracking checked and adjusted every 2-3 weeks as the slightest pot hole knocks the steering out of alignment, the suspension is adequate carrying 2 people, any more and it can't cope, the rear seats are woefully thin, the overall build quality i ...

The Nissan Micra is a superb vehicle! Economy, power-to-weight ratio, quality engineering and design, simple, reliable and inexpensive to own, parking is very easy. Performance is better than most small cars to begin with, but it so much more potential than most other small cars because its engine is like a miniature version of the potent Nissan SR20DE. Responds exceptionally well to turbocharging and extra breathing mods such as extractors, cold air intake etc.
There are faithful owners from a ...

I have Nissan Micra K11 1.0l a 1993 1.0L 3dr which I bought used in 1999. It is my first car and has proved to be exceptionally reliable, needing only routine maintenance and replacement of wear and tear items (although the starter motor did fail at approx 62,000 miles). Performance is surprisingly good for such a small engine and it happily - if a bit noisily - cruise at motorway speeds.
If you are considering buying one then make sure it has a full service history with evidence of oil c ...

I've had an 02 reg k11 since march this year, and have been driving for over 20 years. I've had numerous cars, ford, rover, bmw etc, and i have to say my little micra 1.0s is the best car i've driven in ages. Its true that it does have a sort of granny image, but i've just had some very nice alloys fitted, and it has made quite a difference. Its nippy around town AND relaxing to drive. Even the steering wheel feels nice. I'm not too sure about the new model micra, looks nothing like the k11, so ...

This Nissan Micra K11 1.0l has proved to be a real gem, i never believed that such a basic model with no flairs, could be such a joy to drive!
It is like riding a favourite go-kart in a fairground, but you can take it home afterwards!
I have had nothing but pure fun with this car, ok, on motorways it takes time to shift, but when it does, you will have a smile on your face, i have easily reached and maintained 92 MPH , despite my car being 10 years old! (July 1993! )
i average also despite a ...
