Good Points: It works good with most DVD's and CD's and the player looks good.

Bad Points: I bought this player for playing DIVX and XVID.
With all xvid and divx I have burned on 650 Mb and 700 Mb discs with subtitles, it has problems with the subtitles. After appr. 6 minutes the subtitles disappeare and won't come back. The movie also stops for half a second during the disappearing of the subtitles.

General comments: Can anyone tell me if I can change the settings of my Starmedia DVD-4022 so that I can watch movies with subtitles? Is there a software update available for this player to fix this problem?
    Thanks,

    Danny

I have two older amplifiers and an active subwoofer connected and it sounds extremely good for the price.
I like the fact that the Dynamic Range Compression can be switched off for those true Cinema dynamics.

I've also read that the VGA con ...

I bought Starmedia DVD player 3023. I tried several DVDs on it but it gives all other sounds except human voices. Some of the DVDs have movie clips (ads) from different movies besides the main movie on same DVD. Those movie clips can be heard perfectly with all sounds but main movie has problem indicated above. Please suggest to me immediately as I have to now decide whether I should return back the DVD player.

I have a StarMedia 4022 DVD player and have found in most areas it to be a very good, reliable player. There is one area that I'm having a problem with and I haven't been able to find a solution. I don't even know if it is just this machine, or a general problem, or something I'm doing wrong. On certain DVD's, usually the more 'loaded' ones, the sound won't play. To be more specific, the background sound is fine, but the dialogue is very muted. Other DVD's have the same problem, but all I have t ...
