Good Points: Look the business. Nice Drive. As many GG's as you can afford. Easy to obtain parts.
Bad Points: Not Cheap once you start to buy lots of bits Understeer especially in the wet.
General comments: Ive owned my RS S2 for 14 years now, spend around 14k on it, but overall its a real stunner, jet black and absoulutely mint. Only comes out twice a year. Real head turner.
Just remember, if you upgrade and improve hp you must fit suitable breaks and pads to stop it.

The cars are really great in almost every sense, its more of an addiction to drive than your usual run of the mill shed. Looked after and worked on to get and keep in top condition you will probably make any money back you spent if you sell it on. When buying make sure its not a rust bucket or has major welding done (check under the mats, battery tray, in the boot, have a prod underneath). In fact just take someone who knows thar stuff with you and get it hpi checked. Most of all though, if you ...

The rs turbo is a fantastic car in pretty much every way I own a series 1 and I love it they are just great I've had 18 cars in last 6 years and this is the only one I've liked and kept for 2 years but its not all fun they do have there problems so you need a good general knowledge of cars to own one or you are gonna have some very expensive garage bills. My advice is if your thinking of buying one go for it but just take your time when looking as there are some dogs out there as well as nice on ...

I bought a Ford Escort RS Turbo S2 90 spec 12 month's ago my dream car ever since I was a kid. I paid 2 grand for her 89k documented, full service history 3 lady owners, every MOT from new, Clifford alarm with certificate's, faultless interior and thought it was mint or so it looked on the outside. Then MOT time, it failed on corrosion! After stripping it back to a shell to see how bad it was I was gutted to find it was as rotten as a peach. I am now 6 months on and is taking a hell of a long ti ...

I always wanted a White Lightning series 1 RS turbo and after selling my second RS1600i finally got one only to realize the example I bought was a dog and struggled to get shot of it when I did I managed to buy a fantastic series 2 RS Turbo to replace it. This car was so good I sold it for £1000 more a year later. I only parted with it after it got broke into and my expensive stereo was stolen. I used to love the sound of the Turbo cutting in and even though the series 1 looked better the ...

Ford Escort RS Turbo's are wicked cars. They are still old, but they are guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Knowledge and support is needed by the owner, and it can be found at sites like http://rs-mania.co.uk

I own a grey H reg Escort RS Turbo had it for 6 years still going well, over the years I've nearly replaced everything you can think of just to get it perfect as new its in show room condition car as I always wanted one being my dream car when I was at high school back in 1991, I bought it bog standard keeping the original looks but uprating the engine, brakes and spax dampers using std springs. Its kicking out only 185 bhp 200 torque and believe me it kills wrx subaru's and I suprisingly killed ...

I bought a Ford Escort RS Turbo stage 2 on an F plate around two years ago with FFSH but was in red and had the problem with the fading which was resolved with some handy work from Ed Short who I recomend with bodywork. Unfortunetly I have only driven this car for about 4 months! But that four months of driving have been fun! I have had many problems which are down to the age of the car, the main problem being that I bought it of a bloke who didnt understand the words "put your foot down" But a ...

Have just bought my 1987 Ford Escort RS Turbo after trying to find one that hasn't been involved in an accident. I am extremely happy it has just spent the weekend having a full cossie management system installed and a fully digital in dash HKS system to tell me everything going on under the hood. Well recommend 1 for the more serious rs turbo owner.

This is a 201 Bhp Ford Escort RS Turbo. Lightweight Mk3 shell with mk 4 running gear tipping the scales at just under 1000Kg. It has Cosworth brakes, koni suspension, and 16 inch wheels.
This is a really fast car. It has terrible handling and torque steer to challenge pop eye. It a straight line it is fast, if you can hold it in a straight line! Inside it squaks rattles and bangs. It is just unthinkable.
If you can afford to look after one and it certainly aint cheep! then buy a better car t ...

I have owned a Ford Escort RS Turbo for two years and never regretted buying it. I got it near enough standard and have since added: hearts & diamonds brain, T3 hybrid, wired in 5th injector, full stainless and cone filter, uprated actuator, dump valve, and vernier pulley. this is enough to give it a healthy 200-odd bhp.
Body wise, it is a grey 90 spec example, the only mods being clear indicators, smoked rears and 1/2 leather recaros. To look at, I reckon it looks so much better than other ...

My Ford Escort RS Turbo series 2 was an absolute beast.Untill I crashed it .I fitted everything possible, overall it cost me about 35k but it was worth it.It was cheap for what i got because it was all imports.I added a 90bhp turbo on top of a lot of other stuff. But the thing that really gave me the speed was the nitrous oxide.I also had a 3.0 and 4x4 conversion.I manged to force 575bhp out of it but sadly I crashed it wile racing an audi tt.I was winning in all.what a waste.Luckly i am still al ...

I'm 18 and I bought my Ford Escort RS Turbo 90 spec back in july for 2000, for the money I paid for the car I was well impressed, full service histoy, scorpion, K&N, dump valve the usual mods. It had no tax and mot, but 2 bulbs, 2 wiper blades, abs sensors and a small plate n the drivers floor and it was sorted. but for 3458.95 it was a lot to insure for a year and thats 3rd party aswell

I had a Ford Escort RS Turbo a few years back and wasn't impressed at all. It was quite quick but its speed and handling were no match for a MG Maestro turbo. It also was a constant battle to fend off the rust. Other bad points include poor space, cheap plastics and high insurance costs (even for what it is).
Basically I think these cars are VERY over rated and not worth the prices now being asked. Find something more modern or choose something else from the time, like the truely great 205 GTI ...

I own a Ford Escort RS Turbo series one which has taken nearly two years to build up. 4 grand on an engine with a hugh spec, you name it the car has it charge cooler water injection 2.0 zvh conversion. for £6000 total i have a car that will hold its value as long as it is maintained well and will abliterate anything from a wrx to an evo 6 and been known to keep up with the odd porsche. All you have to do is look at the cars they were competing against back in 1986 mk1 golfs and cars like t ...

I am lucky enough to have a rust free late series 1 rs turbo. On the outside standard (apart from 4 inch pipe and coilovers). I have found that modding the engine is a bit of a nightmare, as anything you do to it upsets it in some way or another. But over the last couple of years i have found a combination that puts a smile on my face. The engine is producing 210-230bhp. I have achive this with lots of time, advice and help from friends and family. My cousin runs a garage and has been my number ...
