I have owned my Peugeot 205 1.8 diesel for about 3 years now and it has not let me down once. I first had the car bought for me to learn to drive in three years ago and have drove it ever since. It is an "N" Reg so it is one of the newer versions of the 205 so it is not a rust bucket like most of the ones you see. I've owned my J reg 1.8 Peugeot 205 Diesel Style for 3.5 years and it now has over 160,000 on the clock. The first engine lasted until 125,000 despite pulling big trailers with the old owner and being passed to me with almost no oil in the sump. The second engine cost £500 including work and is reconditioned so runs a hell of a lot better than the old knackered one. 0-60 in about 10.5 seconds (on the flat) and can manage over 60mpg (good considering I'm a student with no income). Before i did a engine conversion I used to have a Peugeot 205 GRD diesel, for a diesel they are very nippy and extremely cheap to run and insure.
I have now changed the engine in it and added a 1.9 gti engine fitted with a nitros oxcide system and a K&N air filter, It gives it roughly 180 - 190 bhp. 0 - 60mph in about 5 seconds.
