The Rowley XLT were the best shoes Vans ever made and I have never been able to find another I liked even near as much...I wish they still made them. The only other skate shoes I have owned that come remotely close are Nike dunk SB's. The Vans Geoff Rowley XLT skate shoes feel and look great. You can also put them in the washing machine because they are vegan. I found that they do wear out pretty fast though. (read more)

I love these shoes, vans are my favourite shoes to ride in especially the rowley shoes, these are the only shoes i use, they grip on the pedals and the souls are not to thick, i hate thick and hard souls. they break in very quick and generally feel great. i think i am going to change my shoe and try the vans whip which are very similar to the rowleys, still have the waffle grip and pretty much the same shoe. the only problem i have is that they are not the strongest shoe, but they feel great... Great shoe, great performance and soooo comfortable!!! Comfortable as hell!! definetly one of the best shoes i bought in my, uhm 34 years. well, the first 10 pairs i actually didn't buy...as always, vans don't last too long and start smelling the very typical vans way. so, not much value for money. maybe it depends on the materials?? Nice shoes from Vans, the XLTs are a classic loved by many. They're stylish, comfortable, you can really feel the board and it's nice and grippy. The only real bad point is that they rip far too easily, and therefore it's not particularly great fo £65, as you will go through these in about a month. (read more)

I got a pair of Vans Geoff Rowley XLT's from a shop in the mall for 30 bucks so i got them. As soon as I skated in them I loved them and after a few hours I had broken them in and the skated perfect. After a fews hours however the toe became abraised and soon after a few months the entire side was gone, Almost everything on this shoe fell apart but I didnt stop skating them because they were still so great, possibly the best shoe ever for skateability. These shoes are light, the best to... (read more)

Vans Geoff Rowley XLT - Ok here's how it is. The first week these shoes are your god! No joke! But DUN DUN DUN they wear out on the bottom like something sick and they rip easy. Although the comfort of them is amazing, even when they are worn. Overall I'd say if this shoe is not on sale don't buy it but for sale price these shoes are pretty kick-ass. That is while they last. basically if you skate hard...NO!! Do not buy them. beginner yes man go nuts... (read more)

if you want to rip apart the Vans Geoff Rowley XLT shoes, skate them hard. Me? I don`t use them for skating, I just stroll around the mall. I find that they are the best walking around (becasue of their super-lightness) your feet won`t feel tired at all.

I find that all the vans XLT`s are super comfortable, lightweight, but quite pricey. (read more)

I got my Vans Geoff Rowley XLT a year ago from a really bad sport shop. I got them for £30 which was really good.
When I started to skate in they felt really comfortable but as soon as I did my first kickflip the front of the shoe started to rip and I was really bummed about that. (read more)

The Vans Geoff Rowley XLT are very good for comfort and gripping on the board and their light but they rip to fast. I only had them for 3 days and they ripped. it sucks because my dad got them for me and he was angry. They had a good price of $79.99 that's pretty good :) (read more)

Vans Geoff Rowley XLT is probably, in my opinion, the best skate shoe ever created by a human being.

Everything you ever want in a shoe, this has it. lightness, board feel, grippy soles, awesome designs etc, and none of the bad-bulky, heavy etc.
Geoff Rowley succeeded where other shoe designers failed. Rowley hated the bulky-heavy shoes that were so popular in the late `90`s. The only thing I hated about this shoe was the hefty price tag. (read more)

The Vans Geoff Rowley XLT were my second skate shoe and I learned a great deal of tricks with them. The shoes are very grippy and light. However, the grip wears away quickly and the toe tears very quickly. I skated them a lot and did nothing but learn kickflips and boardslides. I destroyed them in only a month. In addition, there is almost no shoelace protection, it got to the point where I was ripping laces everyday and I had to stop wearing shoelaces because I ran out of laces. They... (read more)

The Vans Geoff Rowley XLT shoe's suck. When I got them I thought they would be good because van's are like wicked and everything but let me tell you about these THEY FELL APART IN 5 MINNETS. All that happend was I was trying to heelflip a 7 set and when I landed wrong they just fell apart, the toe just fell off and dude STAY AWAY FROM THESE SHOE'S. Just because Geoff Rowley is one of the best skaters doesn't mean his shoe's rule to, stay way from these. (read more)

My first ever skate shoes were the Xlts, and they lasted me about 7 months. The webbed grip is incredible, but it lasts not too long. My last shoes were the same pair but black, and took me around 2 months for the whole side to come off, and the grip to come off. They ruin quite easy if you are a constant skater. (read more)

Hi TJ,

My XLT's did exactly the same, but as you say they are great shoes to skate in. I've got through 5 pairs now which makes them work out pretty expensive, but still worth it.

I've just started using Globe Chet V and they are awesome. By far the best skate shoes I've ever had and boy do they last.

I got thru 5 pairs of these Vans Geoff Rowley XLT Skate shoes before I decided they were working out too expensive. They are the best sk8 shoes Ive ever had for skating in and the board feel is fantastic. The shame is that all mine have been in shreds in less than 3 weeks. These shoes are good, just not the most durable shoe out there. I've had these shoes for a month and they've been rippin' like mad! My first kickflip with, they started a rip(this might be due to a defect though.....), but they are really light and flex well, the shock absorbance isn't great, but it works.

buy if ya want, geoff rowley wears em' and he kicks, so there must be somethin' great about the shoe.......right? (read more)

These shoes were great the first couple of days. I have used them for skating only, so by now, two pairs have seen about 10 hours skating each. Then the griptape starts ripping up shoelace in the top hole. then stitches on the omnipresent "vans wave" come undone, then back heel piece (behind "[rowley]") comes unglued, and who knows what horrors may soon be found. The stitches on the heel piece are fake too! perhaps if they were real i wouldn't have this problem! anywho, for 50 bucks a pair... (read more)

I bought these shoes from a local skate shop because they looked good and they were reasonably priced. Had I known, however, that they lacked a toe cap, the little rubberish thing under the first layer suede/leather, I would not have bought them. There is also a little bit of overhang in the sole where the sole protrudes out from the rest of the shoe. This can effect skating early on unitl it is worn away. Those are these shoes only major fault. (read more)
