Good Points: St James Infirmary, I Fought Piranhas, One More Cup of Coffee, Jimmy the Explorer
General comments: The White Stripes early album is by far one of their top two. Fans of Elephant may find moments of this album hard to swallow, but it all goes back to the roots of the band, guitar heavy and country blues ridden with the ominous and romantic storytelling that only Jack White's peculiar warble can emit. Their take on One More Cup of Coffee and St James Infirmary brings images of old-time mysticism, New Orlean's brothels and old west shoot-em-ups. Not only filled with one-off gems, but a solid and respectable album as a whole.
