Despite what anyone says about the Stereophonics this is a great album with some wonderful observations in the song writing. Musically, there is nothing much in the way of innovation, with the Rod Stewart and The Faces thing already well in place, but there is nothing wrong with that, as they (The Faces) have been the template for plenty of great bands. Word Gets Around is full of little gems, nothing more so than Local Boy In A Photograph. It's almost like watching a poignant gritty realist film, because the imagery is so brilliant and caustic. They may have developed into a sort of Sub Rolling Stones rock dinosaur type of act now, but this album will be getting favourable reviews for many years to come.
