Good Points: Atmospheric, ethereal, groundbreaking stuff
Bad Points: If you're only going to put six tracks on an album, they ought to all be good. Alas...
General comments: A Pink Floyd Meddle Review:
Another reviewer castigated the track Seamus for being less than up to par for this album. It would sit better on a BB King album I fancy, as it is a banal-lyric 12-bar. I kind of like it because it's so out of place, however.
But the rest integrates well, though it's not the melted-into-one concept idea that was used on dark side of the moon. However, Pink Floyd were masters of their craft and this post-Barrett line up put out several classics before it all got a bit silly.
One of These Days is and remains an absolute beauty, very straight and hard, showing that Pink Floyd could do 'simple'. Some debate rages on what the scrambled lyric line after 'one of these days' actually says. Does anyone know? I think it's "I'm going to cut you into little pieces" (but I'm more than likely wrong).
The other classic track is Echoes, but you need a clear day and a couple of runs at this, with the lights off, as it is so atmospheric you simply can't have it as background noise... The lyrics are fantastic too, even the normally self-absorbed Waters came good on the words this time.
The others are good, without being stellar, which is why this album is often overlooked when folk start citing Floyd masterpieces. But it's worth having in your collection, is probably on a par with Animals, but for me falls a little short of Dark Side of the Moon or Wish You Were Here. Then again, you could say that about 99.9% of all music ever made.

Pink Floyd, Meddle - This LP has you bobbing your head from One of These Days straight through to San Tropez. At which point, you must listen to or skip such a horrible song "Seamus." I was a little disapointed with this song, however Pink Floyd made it up with the phenominal song "Echoes."
