“You'll re-discover your ears”

Written on: 02/09/2011 by asdfasdfasdf

I've had these speakers for about 10 years now. They continue to blow me away. All sound is hyper-accurately represented on these speakers, the bass is super-tight and punchy with no flim-flam, the mids are worryingly clear - often I'll look behind me to see what was there but it was just something in the music. The highs are crisp, detailed and also super clear, even at very high volumes. Quite simply put, these are almost the best speakers I've ever heard and continue to impress me 10... (read more)

I use the KEF Cresta 2 speakers with A 35w/channel Svetlana EL34 valve amplifier... incredible bass depth and control, the highs are silky smooth but are very limiting before presenting certain harshness. Sound is incredibly spacious with more than enough 'air'. Its 2008, these things were made in '96 .....brings the majority of todays bookshelves to shame. Other equipment i use, Arcam 32, Bowers Wilkins Dm 603S3 (read more)

The KEF Cresta 2 are not that much more than BIC $200 speakers, but WAY WAY better in terms of audiophile quality...clear soundstage...ideal for home theater due to entry-level price. Don't bother with tiny little satellites and a sub combo...will never give you the energy you're looking for in a home theater system. He who seeks shall find...these Kefs are worth looking for. KEF Cresta 2 - All in all, the Cresta 2's are a great buy and in my opinion still hold up 3 years down the line. They work best on good heavy speaker stands about half a meter away from a wall. There is a bass duct at the back of the speaker box which can get a little boomy and create "Sonic lag". But all in all, a highly recommended speaker for the price, and they look quite good too. A very good quick review on some top notch speakers. But to the untrained person they might go out now and buy them after reading your review, but then they find out that dance music and rock are not quite suited to these speakers at high volumes as they are only book shelf speakers with hardly a base unit at all. Good review though mate sorry dont meen to be picky. adi

Great sound from these speakers. Compared to Tannoy's and JPW 510's the KEF Cresta 2's give a much richer sound. They are biwirable and look good too in cherry finish. I can't buy black speakers or the wife will put them behind the settee. (read more)
