Good Points: Very addictive. One of the few strategy games for the GBA that feels absolutely right.

    Bad Points: Very, very addictive.

General comments: The game is the basic turn based strategy or tactics game that you would expect, with no fancy graphics (but cartoonish characters that bring it to life). The sound isn't great, and the game shouldn't have anything to offer. But it does. It offers hours upon hours of solid gameplay, and an addiction not easily broken (well actually I'm getting ready to buy Advance Wars 2, so in my case it's permanent).

This is the game that made me pick up the GBA in the first place, and after you play for a while you realise it just keeps getting better and better.

The battle system used in Advance Wars is turn-based and perfectly suited to the Gameboy's controls. Enemy armies are lead by their commanding officer, and they take turns building and commanding units. You play the role of one of these commanders, and your goal is to score a victory for your nation. To do this you must destroy your opponents by using a combination of tactics and the skill of your brave men and women. You must consider advantages of terrain, unit types and the health and morale of your troops before beginning your attack.

I'm not going to explain how the game is played because it has one of the greatest tutorials ever built-in. With 14 missions made just for the purpose of turning you, the player into a tactical mastermind and explaining each and every aspect of gameplay there is. This assures a learning curve that you don't even realise you're on.

On to the game itself. Any student of Sun Tzu will be happy :D with the single player part of the game alone, since the A.I. is smarter than you would expect (although not consistently so), and there are about 150 maps to play on, but where the game really shines is in the multiplayer mode, and that combined with the map editor can provide infinite replay value.

Overall, Advance Wars is a great game that will catch the eye of any TBS enthusiast out there. In my opinion it sets the bar for mobile platform strategy games.

Advance Wars is a fun game. My husband and brother and have played it for 6 months and they say that they are nowhere near completeing it, and like it so much that they haven't used our gameshark once. I actually bought it for my 5 year old son for his birthday but it is far too hard for him, so DON'T BUY IT FOR LITTLIES.

Advance Wars is a turn-based stratedgy game. You marshall units and factories to defeat the opponent. Mission objectives range from defeating the enemy by a certain time to protecting your base from the enemy for a limited time. Great game for stratedgy fans.

Advance Wars for the Nintendo Gameboy Advance has many highs but hardly any lows. I bought about 2 years ago and am still playing on it, even though i am only about half way through.
