General comments: Thelonious Monk, Brilliant Corners - Awesome album. You know how people always say Jazz is love or hate? Well this is the case here. If you are open to invention, improvisation, and all-round musical genius, then Monk will weave his mesmerizing spell. Otherwise it will probably just sound like five guys playing different tunes at the wrong time.
This album also features some Jazz greats at the height of their powers. Max Roach, Sonny Rollins, Ernie Henry and the bass of Oscar Petiford. This is Monk at his best and when he hit that level, only Miles and the Genius that was Coltrane could match him. Brilliant Corners = Brilliant Album.
