The music (ancient Norwegian folk songs set to modern instrumentation) is incredibly unique and evocative. It stirs the imagination. I saw a performance many years ago by the modern dance group Pilobolus set to songs from this album, and it was magical and exciting. Agnes Buen Garnas' voice is striking; a bold, straight-tone, fierce soprano. One can imagine the Vikings sailing off to her singing. This music is not to be missed.
