Good Points: Rachel's appeals to a variety of audiences with this gem, from your grandma who enjoys soothing classical to an ambient-obsessed indie kid. The melancholy harmonies of piano and viola give the impression that you really are appreciating a work of art. Egon would be proud.
General comments: Rachel's, Music for Egon Schiele - I put this album on to sit, relax and do my homework. I put it on when I'm reading a book. Basically, I put it on when I feel the need to listen to something worthwhile and challenging.
There are few albums that I play start to finish, but this flowing masterpiece is too intricate to be consumed any other way. The layers of the music have fantastic interplay, with refreshing experimentation in sound. From the First to the Second Family Portrait (the first and final tracks of the album), Rachel's engages the listener by changing tempo, intensity, and movement. Rachel's scratches my creative itch like little other music can.
