“Ok. this Elpico AC22 stereo valve amplifier is not...”

Ok. this Elpico AC22 stereo valve amplifier is not state of the art and semiconductor or good looking but i have a HARMON-KARDON CA300 theatre amplifier that cost a lot more than the ELPICO but the ELPICO has double the volume and quality against most new stuff. Well worth looking out for at sales. I have found 3 more in the last 2 years and they all work perfectly with my pioneer DVD player in 6.1 mode.

Andrew - Valve rectifiers can be replaced with silicon diodes of the appropriate voltage and current ratings with the provisio that surge-limiting resistors of 1 kilohm are connected between their cathodes and smoothing components.
<br>I don't know this particular amplifier, but I suspect the first smoothing component will be an electrolytic capacitor.
