Jesse Jameson is a girl-hero, with a difference. She can transform into any creature she can think of, but she doesn't know it to begin with. She sees her mum disappear into a woodland fairy ring, but her father and the police don't believe her. Her father falls in love with an ugly old hag, and Jesse is like their Cinderalla - she has to do all the family's chores. Her new step-sisters are vile and horrible to Jesse.
