Good Points: Jeff Magnum's amazing voice, evocative lyrics.
General comments: Neutral Milk Hotel, In the Aeroplane Over the Sea - This is a masterpiece of an album by one of Athens, Georgia's finest musicians/bands. This CD represents alternative country at its finest with lush arrangements including horns and an accordian over jangling guitars and Jeff Magnum's very distinctive and addictive-sounding voice.
The subject matter of the songs ranges from love to sex to religion (on the gently-mocking "King of Carrot Flowers") and beyond.
Lyrically and musically this is one of the most intriguing and intelligent albums in my collection and is very highly recommended!
