Good Points: A classic grunge-rock album that should be included in any respectable rock collection. Includes twelve creative and inspirational grunge tracks delivering a diverse range of influences and styles.

Bad Points: None whatsoever...it's a classic album!

General comments: Stone Temple Pilots, Core - The year of 1992 saw the release of the Stone Temple Pilots' debut album 'Core' through the Atlantic Records label. Delivering a thick slice of grunge rock in the shadow of Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Blind Melon, the four-piece American grunge outfit have managed to produce an album that has stood the test of time, remaining as one of grunge's most influential and important releases. The album started off the career of this musically talented and creative group who have released a further four albums to date. Lead singer Scott Weiland has further gone on to join the rock super group 'Velvet Revolver'. The tracklisting is as follows: 1. Dead & Bloated 2. Sex Type Thing 3. Wicked Garden 4. No Memory 5. Sin 6. Naked Sunday 7. Creep 8. Piece Of Pie 9. Plush 10. Wet My Bed 11. Crackerman 12. Where The River Goes From the sheer meaty appeal of the classic track "Sex Type Thing" to the slow, acoustic cry of "Creep" the CD is a well-crafted and inspired work of grunge rock genius. With aching similarities to Alice In Chains numbers, the band are excused such trivialities because of the sheer creative and inspirational skill that has been put into creating the twelve diverse tracks that make up the album. Weiland's vocals are rough and gritty with a haunting melodic edge to them which blends to the music style like a dead fly to caviar. This is one of those albums that should be in any respectable rock collection. If you haven't heard it yet, then just go out and buy yourself a copy now!

Stone Temple Pilots, that is Scott Weiland (vocals), Dean DeLeo (guitar), Robert DeLeo (bass) and Eric Kretz (drums), hail from San Diego but their sound is all Seattle grunge.
