the blackbird has been a great bike from day one!!! i had three cbr 1000-f before i roll this one off the dealers floor....last one he had....never look back....my question is that has any one swap out for a later motor like a 2001model year that is a fi not carbs...if so will carbs work and will the rest of the stuff bolt up and go in to my old bird...i want to keep the carbs....she is getting a little old 104957 miles now. but still pulls out 36mpg every day to work . thank you.any help would be great!!!reply to jj570afm@att.net

This is my second Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird. Awesome machine, does everything I need it for. The only thing I wasn't keen on were the Michelin 'Hi-Sport' tyres. I've Michelin 'Pilot Power' on now & they make a huge difference. Loads more grip & so much better in the wet. There is nothing on the market what I'd swap it for. Super quick & rock solid at silly speeds. I'm really gonna struggle to find something which is as good.- Read HockeyMonkey's review (77 words)

I am GUTTED that Honda have stopped producing the Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird.
My hope is that the gorgeous 2004 Bird I own lasts long enough for the current, misguided Honda management and design team to be superceded by a new guard who realise that Honda created the perfect motorcycle in 1996.
I have $20,000 waiting to spend on a bike that is a worthy replacement - NOT a stylised V4 bored-out VF800R-hybrid mistake.
Why does everything have to change? The wheel cannot be improved, can it?

The Blackbird build was bullet proof from day one. The final (2008) Blackbirds retained the build quality/reliability of earlier models. The only part which is vulnerable to salt is the forks and these are very easy to protect. It is a doddle to keep this mighty machine in mint condition. I use mine every day - summer and winter - and it remains in unmarked condition. The ZZR 1400 and Hayabusa may notionally be marginally quicker (albeit very few riders would notice the difference), but the Bla ...- Read 2008Blackbird's review (234 words)

after riding a Pan European ST1100 for many years, my recently purchased used Honda CBR110XX Blackbird seem,s quite light in comparison for moving around. Also like The pan once your rolling the weight disappears. However after only several months, i wish i had bought a Bird years ago, if you have read many of these reviews, you will see the extraordinary love owners have for them. they are very near the complete bike. a mile cruncher that has class and speed. There are are some must have additio ...- Read Guest's review (155 words)

Despite a design nearly 14 years old, its a quality design that continues to excite and provide unmatched touring ability and thrills with its sheer power.
Breathtaking speed, comfortable, the HONDA build quality that is always quoted is true when it comes to the honda blackbird.
Have covered around 6 k on mine since moving from a VFR Vtec, the rush of speed is simply awesome. I think it makes a real statement and fellow blackbird onwers without exception always wave and sometimes race me ! ...- Read led's review (124 words)

My previous bike was a Fireblade and unless i rode like a nutter it was an unsatisfying ride (unless i was on a track)
I sold it 3 years ago and bought Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird a Brilliant bike, fast smooth and comfortable, looks good too.
Have had mine for 3 years now, it handles well but you have to work it. which to me is more enjoyable than riding a sports bike on the road
It is a big heavy bike to manhandle but once on the move it is very balanced (able to hold its own in a slow riding ...- Read Guest's review (209 words)

The Honda CBR1100XX SuperBlackbird is at the end of its lifecycle - honda knew it and after owning four of them, two out of the crate and two pre-owned, I now know it. What I have just written has saddened me, but it is what I believe. They have let me down by compromising on build quality by handing production over to another European country and permitting the inevitable degradation of build quality to save a few quid per machine. Every one of my machines has been destroyed - and I mean halved ...- Read mutsnuts64's review (386 words)

I upgraded from a CBF600 to a BB 2 weeks ago, and at the time of picking it up, i'd not ridden for 6 months. After a couple on tentative hours i was confident enough to ride in to central London in rush hour. One day later i set off on a 2300 mile european tour and it didn't miss a beat! It was comfortable to ride for hours on end at 100+ mph as it was navigating through busy traffic in marseille!

The Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird is comfortable and planted at speed. confidence inspiring, good looking and still as good as its modern day competition. I have had super sports bikes, sports tourers, enduro and the blackbird beats the socks off them all. I can highly recommend this bike for your all rounded experience.- Read carlsbacon's review (64 words)

Smoothness, speed, agility, comfort, fit and finish. However Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird not a ST1300 riding position. In my opinion a perfect all around bike. Excellent maintenance record, extremely smooth, comfortable, fun all around bike.- Read Guest's review (35 words)

The Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird is a great bike, comfortable, smooth
at 20mph severe I found it wobbled at the front. sadly after that parked it up and will never ride it again as concerned if done the same thing at speed, it could be dangerous. checked tyres and pressures. still severe wobble at low speed
Really gutted as before this problem loved the bike- Read mooch727's review (65 words and 1 comment)

The Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird has amazing acceleration and speed. Size and stability.
I got a 2003 silver model a month ago, and I am really happy with it. It accelerates like a jet plane taking off, has a comfy ride. Has a Yoshimura fibre Carbon exhaust, and double bubble screen.
Performs amazingly at 260 KMH on the highway, stable and smooth.
Is easy to ride and and very docile at 20 KMH going to the supermarket for shopping
Does nearly everything well. Pity it has been discontinued

I am on my third Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird and will continue to upgrade every few years until they stop making them. I am 6ft and it fits me like a glove. I have commuted, toured, scratched, well just about everything and I just do not get fed up with them.- Read blackbirdradford's review (55 words)

I am now on my second bird both of which were purchased new, originally I had a 2001 bike for just on 6 years of trouble free riding.
I received a top price for older bike when I sold it privately due to the near new bike look and renowned quality of finish.
I have now had 2007 silver & grey Bird which looks very classy for just on 14 months again with no problems.
The blackbird offers an uncompromised blend of usability, power, comfort and great handling whether solo or two up.
I did consider ...- Read Guest's review (121 words)
