I like the style of the Samsung A800 mobile phone. It's the smallest phone I've had, and I have had it for two years without any problems. It's curvy sleek design still knocks some of the newer models flat on their backs! The cool blue back-light is great in all lighting conditions, and I can see mine clearly in the light and dark. The Samsung A800 is a very neat little phone, conveniently small without losing any advantages of a bigger phone. Backlight good, tougher than it looks, just extremely practical.
The options menus could be better, and the battery is a piece of trash but so are most phone batteries.
Would recommend to anyone after a trendy but user-friendly phone.

The Samsung A800 is the worst phone I have ever owned! Ever since I got it 2 years ago I had problems with it! After sending 3 texts, "please wait" is displayed on the screen and it takes a while for the service to be found. Also whenever I made phonecalls to my friends and family, I could hear what they were saying but they could not hear me, although there was a good reception! The games on this phone are poor as they are just rubbish and you can't download or send ringtones or anything... (read more)

Well, excellent, phone very nice, size: couldn't be better. This is a 100 times better than my old 3210 (nokia) with a very nice screen. My friends also liked this phone. It comes with a wrist strap, a headphone set with microphone, manual, and various other things. Very good deal. As you can see from the pic it has got an arial, this can be replaced with a smaller one. I have had...

I've had my Samsung A800 phone for about 9months & my screen is starting to play up. The external display goes all funny and also sometimes when I open the phone the colours are the wrong way round. so what should be black is white and what is usually white is black! It's really annoying and also the lines of text go all funny! But only when it feels like it.
I took it back to the shop and they basically said it's wear and tear and there's nothing that can be done!

Well admittedly I was attracted to this phone for it's sleekness - and after reading various other reviews I tend to agree - and what is with the silly tune when you are deleting something? I must have annoyed many people on tubes and at bus stops with it. Yes, yes, the backlight may look fetching however try and fall asleep with it in your room - every five seconds or so you'll think a police car is outside your window. I got this Samsung A800 mobile phone way back in December 2002 at the time it was probably the smallest, slickest phone on the market but now it just doesn't make the grade.
The A800 still looks a nice phone apart from the disproportionate aerial and the fact that after a few months it starts to look battered (even if kept in a leather case). A nice feature is the crescent shaped service light that you can have flashing any colour you want.
When you open the phone you are greeted with a very...

The Samsung A800 is a great mobile phone for someone who doesn't want complicated technological features. I wouldn't say it was basic but it is deffinately a stunner! The Samsung A800 is a good little phone that works perfectly well. It does seem a bit slow though (almost as if it's processor isn't fast enough for the phone's software) and doesn't have the best menu system. This is more a question than a review itself. I'm hopefully getting the a800 early next week but im a little bit worried after reading some of these reviews. People have said that the phone displays an annoying sound everytime u go to delete or add something etc and that it cant be switched off....is this really the case? If its on silent, will this still happen? The backlight on the phone when closed-is that on continuously unless switched off or does it time out??? Also, are there any quick menus in which u can put the phone on a set profile...'silent','discreet','general' etc....like with a nokia? any help wud be gratefully received and fingers crossed as long as i get it i will be adding a proper review next week. Any answers before then wud be a godsend....PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-thx xx

Yep, that little sound is annoying when you delete stuff etc, tho to be honest as I've had the phone for a bit longer now it doesn't bother me as much. Also, when it's on silent - the phone is completely silent, so no, you can't hear that noise then. There aren't different settings like on Nokia where you have, General, Discreet, Silent, Loud etc. On this phone it's just sound on, or silent mode (although with silent mode you can specify whether you want the phone to vibrate for incoming calls). And you can put it on silent very easily put pressing and holding the # key. Last but not least, the backlight goes out as soon as you shut the phone. I hope this has helped you!
