I bought this single shot bolt action co2 pistol because I just love Crossman and its heritage (with Benjamin as well) I was informed of its high power output and liked the price which varies from £77 to £99. I dont agree that its high powered as co2 is so temperature sensitive in our current climate its hard to judge the muzzle velocity I would not use it for hunting or dispatch as it is advertised as being the rat buster pistol. I do like the recoiless shooting and with a silencer it is… Read Full Review

I love crossman their guns stand for fun and quality, I own the 1377 and the 2240. I am amazed by the mods available and cant wait to mod the 2240.Straight from the carton the 2240 is small and light and fits the hand perfectly, the cocking mechanism is sure and secure as is the safety although its made from plastic. This gun is mighty powerful but is way too loud without a silencer. I got a silencer adaptor and with a silencer it is whisper quiet in fact all you can hear is the hammer and a… Read Full Review

if you can have only one air pistol, make it this one. The power is fine with more modifications available than you have money for. The rear sight sucks, its plastic which is ok, but the adj. is terrible, but once you do get sighted in, it stays that way. the trigger is fine and so is the noise level, I like the grips.
I get 45 strong shots per powerlet and can hit within 1" at 5 meters free hand, perfect for back yard bird feeders (starlings), you can't beat .22cal. for humane kills. This is… Read Full Review

Crosman folks know how to make good shooting cheap air pistols if my example is typical of this pistol. My example shots heavier pellet through my F1 chrony around 430fps and lighter pellets like Beeman Lazers around 475fps so it's safe to say Crosmans claims of 460fps are valid. At less than $60.00 this pistol is a real bargin. The 2240 is a nice little popper for plinking and ridding your yard of pest. It works well on mice and small rats. It's not much for a one shot tree-rat kill but a well placed shot will bring them down out of a tree. Use the "PowerMax-HiPAC" to get all of the one shot kill power you need from the stock 2240. The "PowerMax" is a bulk-fill adaptor designed specially for the Crosman 2240. The "NO MOD" solution to Bulk-Fill.

The Crosman 2240 is one of the best pistols out there. It's a single shot, bolt action co2 pistol. In stock form it produces velocities in the 460 fps range. While this may not seem like much, keep in mind that this is in .22 caliber. It is one of the only pistols that are capable of hunting. The Crosman 2240 is a accurate powerful gun. I don't think you will find a pistol as powerful in this price range - $80 CDN. There are others as fast as it but not as powerful because it shoots a heavier .22 cal pellet. The 2240 shoots a 14.3 gr. pellet at 460 fps = 6.72 foot pounds you may find other pellet pistols shoot as high as 523 fps but only in .177. A 7.9 gr .177 cal pellet going 525 fps has 4.84 foot pounds, that is a difference of 1.88 foot pounds or 38%. I would consider that… Read Full Review

However, I would not recommend it for gophers (Richardson ground squirrel.) It doesn't get the job done unless it's a head shot. We have had some trouble with rabid skunks in the area and being in town a Rimfire .22 is out of the question, and a springer could take longer to ready (though I'm now considering an HW45).

There are power mods, accuracy mods and custom parts that you can add to the gun (just like the other 22xx and 17xx guns that Crosman makes).
