Good Points: Solid 3/4" copper base, aluminium helicoid pins, mounting for 80mm fan, polished base makes for good contact with CPU.
Bad Points: Heavy, very heavy.
General comments: I did a tremendous amount of research before buying this huge chunk of metal, the Swiftech MCX-462. The Swiftech name is a guarantee of quality, and I was not disappointed when it arrived. The most important thing you must do before buying one is to check that your motherboard has the four necessary mounting holes around the CPU socket. Of course, since this model is attached to these holes, you have to remove the entire mobo in order to fit it (you dont want this heatsink if you change processors a lot). As should be expected, its not the cheapest on the market (I sourced mine from the US to save money). That said, if you want the ultimate in aircooling this has to be the heatsink for you. And believe me, when mated to a performance fan (like my 80mm Delta screamer) your processor will think it's on an arctic expedition. Just don't forget the thermal paste... Arctic Silver 3 does the job ;)

For comparison we are going to use the original Swiftech MC-462 and the Alpha PAL8045. We decided to go with a three way because there are only these three sinks at this performance level.
