Illmatic is a good album but its not his best. It is a very good debut album and even though it only has ten tracks its still a fantastic album. He goes for quality not quantity in this and if you hear this you will be amazed by his lyrics. The world is yours is a quality track.

Nas, Illmatic - Although there are only 9 full songs, Nas takes you on a trip into Queensbridge, giving tales of the ghetto. It starts out with basically what New York is about, then he talks about how he sees life and the streets and also himself as an MC.

Nas, Illmatic is a hip-hop classic. Every track is perfectly written and produced and Nas puts across his opinions and emotions crystal-clear. The high points of the album are NY State of Mind, Halftime and It Ain't Hard to Tell.

Apart from the intro every track on Illmatic is a classic in itself but for me 'N.Y state of mind', 'Halftime', and 'The World Is Yours' stand out.

one word explains this album, brilliant. All the way through, this album delievers. N.Y. state of mind. Lifes a B***h. One Love. The world is yours. The latter drops lines like
"I need a new n***a for this black cloud to follow/ Cuz while it's over me it's too dark to see tomorrow." He might as well wrote those lyrics in blood, theres so much emotion poured in them. Another gem is Memory Lane. "One for the money, two for the pussy and foreign cars/ three for Alize, homies deceased or behind bars ...
