Pantera, Reinventing the Steel despite the view of some, is to me a great progression in the career of Pantera.
The outright aggression and ballsiness of this album is forever a bench mark for up-comers. The members of Pantera have collaborated to bring us a newer a reformed version of what they've been doing for years. Wowing fans with songs like; Drag the waters, Floods, The underground in America, 10's etc. The Great Southern Trendkill is exactly what it states. A movement against the trends of that particular era, to bring us a fantastically raw and brutal album from start to finish. All the songs have a big back bone of rhythm to them, but there are only afew solos on this recording which is a shame. Although when there are they come with southern grace and Dime style as he would have put it. Inspirational songs like 'Floods' really showcase that statement. Phil Anselmo seems to have really embraced his vocal roars and screams for this installment which leaves you really wanting more talent or effort from him personally but the lyrics are thoughtful at times and have been well written to suit the albums statement. So overall this selection is a must have for any fan or someone wanting to experience something with aggressive flair.

Sadly it had to happen at some point. 'Vulgar display..' came along and was great. 'Far beyond...' was even better. But 'T.G.S.T' blew them all away. 'Reinventing the Steel' was sadly a backwards step (or should that be leap!). Tired sounding songs, that even the band sound like they're bored with playing. Nothing new or interesting at all. I'm not surprised they split after this album. It's a shame they didn't call time when they were on top of their game.
