Good Points: Good sound quality easy to use with keyboard.

Bad Points: I can't find a way to record by optical cable from a burned CD or through coax from my PC now I can't record my MP3's digitaly and that's realy bothering me.

General comments: I bought my MDS-JE640 about 3 years ago and I never had any problems (besides the pc link thing).
Never had problems with any recording failures or anything like it. Sound quality when recording in long play 4 is acceptable (lp2 is the right compromise in duration/quality) and when I had a power down during recording it started to write the disc when I powered it on.
No data loss, it just is an awesome MD deck (it still is a shame it doesn't have any pc-link features on it).

My Sony MDS-JE640 deck is going ok with no real problems. Sometimes if the fibre optic leads are disconnected without the deck turned off it comes up with error codes, but doing
correctly comes up with good results. Mine is now a year old and no problems so far.
It's a little unsteady on generators - that's why I prefer my KX393 tapedeck on that type of job. Steady analogue.
