Good Points: A metal masterpiece.
General comments: Deftones, Adrenaline - I was surprised to see that this album didn't score 10/10. This album practically created the genre 'nu metal' although it doesn't follow stereotypical nu metal patterns and still offers an alternative to whingey nu metal today. The melodic vocals that vary enormously and almost seem out of place with the music introduced the unique Deftones sound. So, to tag this album 'nu metal' seems unfair. In many respects it is a masterpiece, well worthy of a grade 10. However, it is important to take into account the fact that the Deftones sound isn't one that appeals to all. It requires in-depth listening, moreso than typical metal or nu metal (e.g. Korn or Metallica). Still, to me it's brilliant!
