Good Points: Huge list of features
    Email and WAP capability
Touch screen with Handwriting Recog. Software

    Bad Points: Large and heavy
Not as easy to use as a Nokia
Dodgy Antenna (easily loses reception even though it's dualband)

General comments: I bought this product off ebay for about $200(AU) and am generally pleased with the phone. Unfortunately i wasn't supplied with a manual, so i probably haven't experienced all the phone has to offer. One bad point is the way the backlight turns off when the phone is open (sms, wap, etc.) I overcame this by flicking the top right button (used for voice dialling) up and down, this turns the light back on. Although it has it's little bugs and impracticalities, i've fallen in love with this phone and will most likely buy Ericsson's from now on. (my value for money is 10 because i only paid $AU200 for it)

I CAN SEE THAT THE PROBLEMS WITH THIS PHONE ARE VERY COMMON TO ALL ITS OWNERS, I HOPE THAT ERICSSON WILL RESPOND FOR ALL OUR INCONVENIENCES.

The Ericsson R380s mobile phone promises everything that you dream of especially if you are on the move with a PDA and a phone - your chance to combine both. It doesn't work - too slow, often locks up, and is simply painful to use. A terrible shame - can't help thinking that the computing power is not sufficient for all the functions and memory requirements.

I seem to be having the all problems reported here on my Ericsson R380s mobile phone.
    1. The paint scratches easily.
    2. The touch screen constantly locks up on incoming calls making it unable to answer.
    3. Every single call i mak is discconnected with in one minute.
    4. Even in the middle of the city it is constantly showing no signal.
    5. It runs very slowly.
    6. Often fails to send SMS.
It's been in for warranty repairs for 5 weeks and now Ericsson tell me thay cannot find fault and I supp ...

I was excited about this Ericsson R380s phone to begin with, but that soon faded. The phone gets slower and slower, and the battery life is unacceptable (I have to charge daily!)

I've only one advice: DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!
In the beginning I was very excited about this R380s phone from Ericsson. The interface looked nice and the hardware was compact. The interface of NOKIA phones maybe not that fancy at all but one can be sure of the fact that they NEVER crash! Conclusion: I'll buy myself a new NOKIA and never again an Ericsson.

The concept of a combination phone/palmpilot is great but it seems the technology is not yet capable. Ericsson have damaged their reputation by releasing this product, the R380s, before having perfected it. Bugs in my phone include the following: Slow boot-up; Slow software operation; Pastes numbers instead of locking keypad; Software crashes frequently; Backing-up software difficult to use.

I traded in my Nokia 9110 and Ericsson R320s on a R380s, and to date I have not looked back. I originally got the R320, because I wanted a phone that I could carry with me to building sites and seeing clients, but I missed the Nokia's ability to write notes, check e-mail - but it was too big to carry around. So when a friend offered me a great deal, I couldn't resist.

Packing all those features into a package not much bigger than the R320, was like a dream come true. Only fault I can find ...

I decided to upgrade from a Nokia 8210 to the Ericsson R380s. At first glance I thought the Ericsson was an awesome phone. After a few days use I discovered that adding a name and number was a mission. First having to add in to the contacts then having to export to the sim card. If you don't the name doesn't appear in last dialed numbers menu. Only the number appears.
Text messaging can't be done with the flap closed. You have to open the flap, get the stylus out and write or reply to a msg. I ...

To start with I thought this was a great phone. After using nokias for many years the poorly thought out navigation began to get on my nerves. Then it started to hang and crash. I began to miss the palm pilot, and found I used the calander functions less and less. The phone seems to be unable to keep its clock running correctly too.
As a phone it is great though. The sound is very clear, and the voice activated dialing works almost perfectly. It is comfortable to use, light enough, and will las ...

I was very impressed with the PDA/Phone. I always did believe that this was the way to go in the MIllenium. We have had many technology transitions with separate PDA's and Phone but this truly combines them together and keeps it simple and sweet. U no longer need to arrange your phone's IR in line with a Palm's IR port to get online to check your emails.

I did find that this technology is coming about with Motorola as well with the launching of the Accompli Series ... but from what I have see ...
