    Good Points: Looks and performance


    Bad Points: No HDMI


    General comments: I love the sound the Sony DAV-S550 produces and the strait punch from the sub that the newer ones just don't have, hence the reason I have kept it so long !, it's been faultless from day 1 and lasted me about 5years so far !

    Not one problem with the Sony DAV-S550 in around 5 years of continuous use (touch wood). Sounds great and does the job. Not found the uint or system to be at all delicate. I have been very impressed with the quality and reliability of this system. Continuous use at moderate to hifgh volumes and it's never missed a beat.

    Looks great, it's a stylish LITTLE unit that for the original price I paid in 2003 was a solid all-around system. It's super easy to set up, provided you aren't color blind (which my boyfriend is, so I do the DVD/surround set up after a move). It worked great for about 3.5-4 years. In that time I had it at college, it got knocked around, packed up and moved every 6 months, turned up too loud, abused by roommates, you name it. It held up really well, few scratches, no blown speakers.

    For so huge amount of money, so poor equipment, especially for Sony. After only 200hour of working in six years, the end sond modul was failed. Total costs for repair are over 200 '. Sony - never again.

    I bought this Sony DAV-S550 as an all in one system, it sounded easier and less hassle.

    Although the system looks good and was easy to setup the overall sound lets it down.

    DVD playback is good (sound & picture)
    Music playback is poor quality (no punch) very dull.

    However this system does play sacd's (but these are limited at present)
