Definitely one of his best albums. I've been a fan since about 2000 and to me, The downward spiral IS nine inch nails. Made in 1994 its Industrial rock/metal at it's very best. He doesn't just make 'noise' music where every song sounds the same and there's no beat or tune and some goth screams all the way through. It's much more deep than that, he sings he shouts he experiments with different sounds. If you like metal music in any way then NIN is worth a listen.

and every one needs to hear the song 'closer' at least once in their life!

Very creative, very dark, yet very open/honest...a cartharsis. So dense that you have to listen to it over and over again, LOL a very bad point. A classic.

The Downward Spiral is definately my favourite Nine Inch Nails album. Even though the band is new to me, i really enjoyed this album. This has many interesting, and stagering lyrics and music. It's hard to say what will happen next at the music. Really nice album.
