Good Points: The new online facility is one of the best services I have seen from any financial services provider.

Bad Points: Appalling level of customer service when you phone through.

General comments: In my opinion it is best to do everything online with Capital One Classic, you can pay online, download your own statements, so no paper statements are ever posted, if you request this. When I made a complaint about their disgusting phone service a few years back, they acknowledged they had a problem with their customer call centre from abroad and that there were advisers unable to grasp basic understanding of English. When they couldn't understand me (and I speak very clear Queens English, their approach was to cut you off or put you on hold for 20-30 mins). Even some of the call centre staff in Nottingham sound un-interested. Needs vast improvement in their phone manners. Not a very good advert for any company. I think they have realised this and have introduced a fantastic online facility where you can do everything you want without having to communicate with anyone. Probably the best business move they have made !

I don't have to call Capital One Classic customer service very often but when I do, I dread it. They make it very difficult to reach a live customer service rep. When you do, it is clear that some of the staff's English is not the rep's first language. It is difficult to understand them and they just keep repeating the same explanation over and over even when it is not relevant to your question. You have to explain your problem 3 different ways so that they understand it. Seems absurd. I ...

Basically Capital One Classic is absolutely fantastic for first time people to credit cards, there is a lot of helpful friendly customer service reps at the offshore call centre, although if you have a pants credit report like me or adverse credit, having one of these bad boys really does help you. The online service they provide is the best I have ever seen for a banking, credit service, it is so detailed and clear to understand and best thing is the secure message centre, you write your query ...

Well according to the reviews i should have never applied for a capital one classic VISA. But let's get a few things straight. Taking advantage of the online account management, there's hardly any chance that you'll have any problems. You can see how much money you've got available, when the next minimum payment is due, secure messaging with the customer service, and so on. The interest rate might be high, but no one forced you to sign it, so what's the matter. Also if you don't go a little bit ...

I would only recommend capital one if your credit is non existent or low if its good try the high street bank first. Capital one are offering a good service but only to people in a position where there unable to obtain mainstream credit. Our first card only had a £100 limit we had no credit history we never needed credit we got a capital one card to establish our credit file it serves that purpose well but you have to hover over it ensuring you monitor every payment every charge and doubl ...

This card is only designed for people who have very poor credit ratings, and i cancelled my card with a month of having it due to the extortionate interest rates they charge and only ever used it once. And I am much happier using my other credit cards that do not try extorting money from me through interest rates!!! But my mum has this card and she has been using it for about 6 months and in that time she has had her credit limit doubled and is helping her increase her credit rating as she pays ...

So generally, all I can say it this level of incompetence is totally unnecessary.....service...you get sent to an overseas caller only to be charged at an extorinate rate and then told that they will get someone in the UK to call you back and that is after you have been hanging on for a minimum of 20mins! Not to mention that a customer service assistant on the phone started to shout down the phone when I told I her I had difficulty understanding her... It wasn't the volume but her inability to ...

On the Moneysupermarket site I saw the following. Capital One credit card, 18 months 0% transfer if you spend 100 pounds in the first 3 months,2% handling charge, reverting back to 15.9%APR. I asked for this product and spoke to a customer relations advisor they said it wasn't available and tried to sell me a more expensive card. I got the same response from the Manager

The Capital One Classic credit card is designed to make money for the company, not satisfy customers. They should invest more money in customer satisfaction, instead of high volume advertisement. Note: I personally lost $400 through their dispute process. I invested a large quantity of my time and effort, to only lose money in the end due to their disorganization.

I have found them to be useless when i call. Some 6 months ago a payment went missing (bank blames them they blame the bank), They charged me for a missed payment (this upset me but I could live with it), Then they put me over my credit limit with that charge then charged me for that, At this point I called and said that I am not happy about the second charge they said that they would get someone to call me about this. That was 6 months ago I have called every month but nothing I have now ref ...

The Capital One Classic Credit Card is a good way to build up your Credit Rating. They always answer my e-mails, and my credit card came through quickly; and the pin number. The staff at Capital One are always helpful.

To be honest, I was very pleasantly surprised when using my card. I expected there to be non-stop problems like other reviews suggested, and I was very happy to find out there wasn't any!!! I got the Capital One Classic card just before Christmas when I was in severe financial trouble, and desperately needing money, and I was surprised to find I was accepted, in spite of everyone else turning me down. It arrived within 2 weeks, and I started using it immediately. The only trouble I found with ...

The credit limit on the Capital One Classic Credit Card seems rather strange. Mine is £200. My other Visa has a limit of £5000 (I lost my wallet, and I can only use the Capital One card, currently). Why so low? And why can't I actually speak to anyone about it?

I used the card to open a betting account with Blue Square. I was transferring £5 into my betting account and I did this three times. I was then charged 3x £3 cash transactions. I sent an email and they responded by apologising, saying it should have been a purchase transaction, and they would refund the money to my credit card account. They were slow doing this, and I had to remind them twice over about 5 weeks. Finally, they credited my account, but they made it very clear that ...
