I started with a credit limit of £500. I had a Lloyds Credit card already. I always paid the balance in full. On my 4th statement, my limit jumped to £1000, which is really good and helpful. Not sure about customer service because I never really had to call them about anything. Overall, good card. APR is ofcourse high because this is a card for starters, but I'm not too bothered because I normally pay back the owed balance within the interest free period. Cheers.

The people @ the end of the phone are all very informed and can't do enough for you. They have always been able to resolve a situation for me or answer a query where needed.
They got in contact with me each time I purchased something that they considered above average for my account,(3 plane tickets to the U.S.,etc),and it made me feel secure that they are looking after my interests regularly.
Maybe they could put some sort of loyalty scheme in place! It would be an idea!

Well I've been with Capital One for over 12 Months, had poor/no history for a long time, but started with £500, and it's still the same. Paid it off a few times, never missed a minimum payment, mostly paid more than minimum. My ex-girlfriend started with £100 and got increased twice, now upto £1,200, yet I earn much more than her, and she has never paid hers off, go figure!!!

It has helped me get two other credit cards though, with my bank Natwest and with Santander, with m ...

Capital One allow the card to go over limit and then charge £12 instantly for it. I spent £1 over the limit and they charged me £12 no warning nothing.

Capital One Classic is good for building your credit rating. Poor rates of interest, so always make sure to pay in full each month.

Terrible service - typical company relying on computer systems to do all their work for them and no human interaction. I have a poor credit history, so naturally my available balance started low. I asked Capital One Classic for this to be raised, and was told this would happen after my fourth statement should I manage my account well. I managed my account well, yet after my fourth statement I was given a measly £100 increase. They may as well not have bothered. I can comfortably affo ...

Applied for a Capital One card after my existing credit card with Natwest could not use the online facilities due to error on their side, which could only be resolved by going into a bank during the hours when I am normally working. Applied for a capital one card, but had to phone the dreaded call centre to activate it. They said that the details I had given did n't match their records, so have to wait 3 days until another department is open.

Basically, the Capital One Classic card is fine and I found it works pretty well. The online setup is excellent and easier than most online banking. The only problem is the credit limit stay the same for months and months..

I received a letter in the mail a few days ago, stating that my account was being closed because of non use. I only use one card for my large issues, Through a misunderstanding, when I made a purchase a year ago, I have been charged a large ammount of money all of a sudden, and I am canceling that card, and wish to transfer the total amount onto a new card with a lower APR. I have excellent credit, never late on payments, own my own home, and have only one debt, that credit card. I no longer wis ...

Though the Capital One credit card is easier to get, only give you very low credit limit (only £200 mine).
Also, have charged me £3 for each transaction from a gambling site, even though some are for just £5. Apparently it is in the "terms and conditions" that these are treated like cash.
It even applies if you buy a lottery ticket or for certain other things, I'm still not even sure which.

Pretty disappointing customer support. When I finally spoke to a person, not of this country, he did not really understand what I was requesting. I asked to be passed to manager and gave up after waiting for quite a few minutes.

Thumbs up and credit when it ' s due - having been abroad for years I was given a break on my Capital One credit card; they granted me credit which enabled me to start building a history. I earn well and was surprised to get a £200 limit BUT I spent, paid off in full, spent, paid off in full, etc. After 3 months they increased the limit to £500. Ok this is pathetic for someone on a £45k salary BUT after 6 months of paying and spending I got other cards. This is the key to ca ...

In my opinion it is best to do everything online with Capital One Classic, you can pay online, download your own statements, so no paper statements are ever posted, if you request this. When I made a complaint about their disgusting phone service a few years back, they acknowledged they had a problem with their customer call centre from abroad and that there were advisers unable to grasp basic understanding of English. When they couldn't understand me (and I speak very clear Queens English, the ...

I don't have to call Capital One Classic customer service very often but when I do, I dread it. They make it very difficult to reach a live customer service rep. When you do, it is clear that some of the staff's English is not the rep's first language. It is difficult to understand them and they just keep repeating the same explanation over and over even when it is not relevant to your question. You have to explain your problem 3 different ways so that they understand it. Seems absurd. I ...

Basically Capital One Classic is absolutely fantastic for first time people to credit cards, there is a lot of helpful friendly customer service reps at the offshore call centre, although if you have a pants credit report like me or adverse credit, having one of these bad boys really does help you. The online service they provide is the best I have ever seen for a banking, credit service, it is so detailed and clear to understand and best thing is the secure message centre, you write your query ...

Well according to the reviews i should have never applied for a capital one classic VISA. But let's get a few things straight. Taking advantage of the online account management, there's hardly any chance that you'll have any problems. You can see how much money you've got available, when the next minimum payment is due, secure messaging with the customer service, and so on. The interest rate might be high, but no one forced you to sign it, so what's the matter. Also if you don't go a little bit ...

I would only recommend capital one if your credit is non existent or low if its good try the high street bank first.

Capital one are offering a good service but only to people in a position where there unable to obtain mainstream credit. Our first card only had a £100 limit we had no credit history we never needed credit we got a capital one card to establish our credit file it serves that purpose well but you have to hover over it ensuring you monitor every payment every charge and doubl ...
