Good Points: I live in a bad signal aera for Orange. The m3788 set works when my Nokia 6280 will not 'send.'

Bad Points: I can't download my own ringtone.

General comments: This m3788 was purchased ( £10) as an emergency Phone in the Girls car, it was always pluged into the charger. When the battery went Kaput I retired the Phone and updated. I have a new battery for my m3788 and am happy I kept it. Nobody wants to steal it, my children do not 'borrow' it as it is not "Cool"Can I do something about downloads?

I've had my Motorola m3788 for over 10 years and it's perfect - never a problem - well the original battery doesn't last long on standby but you can use 4 AA batteries!! What modern mobile can do that? I wouldn't change it for anything.

The Motorola M3788 was not bad old thing from end of 98 brilliant at getting reception, nice big buttons loud ringtones which I said was bad but it is good because you can hear it over the noise of a tractor. It lacks features like a clock, basic stuff taken for granted now.

The Motorola M3788 was my first phone,
I think it is a very good first phone because it is simple and easy to use. I have dropped and bumped it on numerous ocasions and it has never let me down. The only problem I have with this phone is the lack of features.

This Motorola M3788 was my first mobile phone that I had. I bought it about 3 years ago and got it for £29.99 which was good value.
The phone itself is a good phone and useful for a first mobiile phone but has lack of features, e.g no clock, alarm or games, not even a calculator. There is no phonebook memory so you can only store on the SIM card. Also when you recieve messages it only shows the number that sent it even if you have the number in the phone book.
The reception on the phone ...

I must have had my Motorola M3788 at least 4 years now,it has never let me down and fullfills all the needs I have for a mobile, just does just what it was designed for 'a mobile phone'.I bought a Nokia 3330 as an upgrade, but gave it to my daughter after a couple of weeks,I prefer the old faithful motorola, not being interested in the gizmos, graphics, games, and ringtones, etc.an unlike all my family, forever changing phones, never knowing which number to ring them on I always have the same numbe ...

To be fair, the Motorola M3788 is not a bad phone. It's well built and could last you a lifetime. But it's size and weight do count against it.

The main problem with this phone is the lack of features. Granted, it's a dated esign and is very cheap, but writing Text messages is a chore and so is receiving them. It is difficult to read messages, as the screen layout is a mess.

Another bugbear is the user friendliness, or rather the lack of it. It's hard to find your way around the (few) ...

This phone is the perfect first phone. It's easy to use, nearly damage proof and you will get to grips with it in about 30 seconds. It is not good for teenagers and frankly they can't use it too much in public if they want to be saw as cool. I have to use it in my bag. I only care about how it looks really. Don't care about wap which nobody I have ever met uses. I don't care about the ringtones and most people I know have normal mono sounds and they think it sounds great and it sounds poor. Also ...

External aerial is not too bad, given that the Siemens SL45 has one and so does the Samsung SGH-A300, but the size! (Phones we used to use back then...) The phone is very out of date, (duh) and motorola are now offering the best phone on the market - the V70. (YES, IT IS BETTER THAN THE SAMSUNG T100!) Can you believe that the V70 and the M3788 are made by the same company? All I can say it that the phone did well in its time, and if you havent noticed the prices of phones in general are going up. ...

THE MOTOROLA M3788 MOBILE PHONE IS QUITE NICE. IT HAS TEXT MESSAGING AND SOME GOOD THINGS ABOUT IT. THE CONTROLS ARE QUITE EASY TO UNDERSTAND. YOU'LL GET THE HANG OF IT VERY QUICKLY.

The Motorola M3788 is a very good mobile phone for first time users. I've been using mine for almost 2 years without a single problem. (I'm still thinking of dumping my new Nokia 3330 cos' it don't do the same!!??).

The menu system is a joy to use,(Nokia could learn a thing or two). It also has a 'quick' menu and allows you to assign keys 1-9 for your favoured menu options - although the default settings for this are more or less ideal anyhow.
This means voicemail, number & name search, speed ...

What I find interesting is that Motorola have successfully designed the m3788 phone to completely stop working within a week of the 12 month warranty being up. This obviously takes some doing and is an excellent example of the time, care & quality build that they have obviously not put into this machine.
The m3788 has been nothing but bad news for me - it's not even though it was used a lot, once or twice a week, it stayed in my jacket pocket when it wasn't next to my ear. I had to replace i ...

The Motorola M3788 phone is a brick. The ring tones are really bad, the text messaging is slow and the phone itself freezes so it's slow to use and you can't change the front panels.

I WILL KEEP USING IT UNTIL ITS BLED DRY. OKAY EVERYTHING HAS ITS BAD POINTS. THIS PHONE IS LARGE ITS BASIC AND IT WILL OUT LAST SOME OF THE DEARER MODELS ITS NOT NASTY NOR CLASSED AS CHEAP WHATS HAPPENED TO THIS PHONE YOU COULD NEVER DO TO MOST PHONES.YOU SHOULDNT KNOCK IT BUT TRY IT. To be fair, I've not had this model but it IS very similar to the Motorola Memphis which was my first mobile back in 1997 on one2one pay as you go.
    It is extremely basic.
I don't know what their top of the range phones are like but their basic, entry-level phones really need to be improved - in terms of size... design... ringtones... menu system that's easier to navigate...
Even the most basic models from other phone makers are far more advanced than these chunky black lozenge numbers! Plus, ...

An excellent but basic phone, now relegated to those (frequent)occasions when my 3210 cannot receive a signal, when the M3788 is still able to pull in 3 bars.
The battery life is adequate - not as good as the 3210 but infinately better than my now defunct Diga.
The phone has withstood being dropped many times and still is as good as the day I bought it. I would recommend one of these to anyone looking for a phone that will take a battering.
The phone may not have fancy ringtones and logos, bu ...

THE MOTOROLA M3788 IS GOOD AS FIRST MOBILE PHONE AS SIMPLICITY AND RELIABILITY GO HAND IN HAND.
AS A PAY AS YOU GO SPECIAL CODE WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO USE DIFFERENT PROVIDER..NUISANCE FOR TRAVELLING ABROAD..TIED TO THEIR TERMS. ANY SOLUTIONS FROM DISGRUNTLED EX MOTOROLA EMPLOYEES (THINKING OF YOU IN SCOTLAND) WOULD BE USEFUL WRT THIS SPECIAL CODE.
    ACCESSORIES TOO EXPENSIVE.
WOULD NOT PARTICULARLY RECOMMEND THIS PHONE TO ANYONE.

I first got the Motorolla M3788 as a suppliment to my contract phone (as pay as you go phones have cheaper text messages). The phone is based on an age old design, my mum had one of the earlier versions of it with the cool flip down microphone with exactly the same features as this one (only in a phone about 4 times as large!). It's ugly, featureless, but the reliability of the phone when making calls is rock solid, its just so tough! You would need a sledgehammer to really do any damage to it w ...
