Good Points: Plays DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, Super Audio CD, MP3, DVD-RW, CD-RW
General comments: This Pioneer DV-656A-K DVD player has so far taken everything I can throw at it (although not yet got a home-made DVD-R to test).
The on-screen menus allow easy set-up of defaults for picture and sound track selection for SACD, DVD-A and such. The rear panel has RGB SCART pass-though, 5.1 component and digital output, S-Video, component and composite video output.
The image quality for DVD video playback to my 36" widescreen TV has been smooth and perfect. It made a great job on SVCD playback from unbranded CD-R, and a data cd with 250 mp3's shows all track and folder names on the screen for easy navigation of some 150 hours of music.
The component audio out is necessary for most DVD-A and all SACD multi-channel material.
At the bargain price this player was bought (340 GBP including VAT and delivery) it's been my best buy in ages.
