★★★★★

The Nissan Almera SRi has great handling, good build quality and fantastic reliability. Rust has started to appear around arches and sills - after 13 years. 106000 miles without any break down.

“I've only owned my Almera SRi for 1 month. I'm already...”

★★★★☆

written by Guvnor1990 on 16/05/2009

I've only owned my Almera SRi for 1 month. I'm already in love. I initially set out to find a 3 door version as the 5 door looks long and estate like I thought. I had trouble finding one so eventually settled with the 5 door. In black like mine though, it looks much better than other coloured 5 doors because it lessens the estate look (handles doors etc merge). I now love it and especially the practicality, while all my friends are jumping out to let people in when it's rainging.

Jumped in, I loved the inside. The GTi interior the SRi has comes with comfy sports seats and there's so much room. Nicely spaced peddles and the clutch foot rest and immense dials.

In first gear she revs to 7000rpm to 40mph. My favourite thing about the car is 0-40mph. In second it does 60mph and gets to 60mph in 10.6 according to parkers. Easily enough torque and power for town driving and motorway driving. I especially like the sound when combined with my K&N panel filter. For her size she handles really well, not sure how much of this is down the toyo proxes T1R's she came with, though I doubt the suspension can utilze their full potential . Also got some GTi alloys on mine, looks a treat.

Well equipped (mine hasn't air con but phase 2 models have) with full electrics, lovely engine and great interior (although some disagree, i love the interiors). All this on 56,000 miles for £675 quid. It has full service history up until about 45,000. What you get for the money is really something.

★★★★★

written by kajjot on 12/04/2007

The Nissan Almera SRi is the best! It's only 40 BHP less then GTi but with engine being 1.6 instead of 2.0 it weighs less and also cheaper to insure and tax. Mine also has GTi interior as standard. On a drag race (if you can call these cars suitable for drag races) it outperforms the Honda Civic 1.6 VTi. Space in the back, I'd say as much as a Mercedes-Benz SL 600. Boot is good enough for two decent size suitcases. Top speed I got out of mine is 115 mph. Lovely car for boy racers or small families. Excellent value for money. Mine is 1996 (N reg), black, 92k on the clock, perfect condition and now guess the price...... £825!!! For pleasure like that it's a bargain!

The Nissan Almera SRi is a great car - I've been traveling in it and go fishing all the time and still have space to spare. It's never let me down and I drive every day - definitely get one.

The Nissan Almera SRi is a great car. I have the 5 door version and have had it for 10months now and had no problem at all with it. So far i've done 55k miles and it has original back box along with all electrics working fine. No problems to report at all. Very nice for a 1.6, wouldn't change it for anything.

The Nissan Almera SRi is fast, practical, ripe for tuning even if body kits are few and far between!

The Nissan Pulsar VZ-R is not 4x4!
There are 2 engine specs avalable - they are the 175bhp 1.6 Normally aspirated and the 200bhp N1 1.6 Race version which were strictly limited edition (Only 300 avalable of the Version 1 and 200 of the Version 2 the following year)
The N1 version is distinguished by the large rear spoiler above the back window.

Regarding engine mods - Stick a GTI engine in your 1.4! Are a Pulsar GTi-R SR20DET.

This car is a great ride, true could use a little more power but still do very well up against similar cars. If you cant afford the GTi, the SRi is a great alternative with the option of the engine swap.

The 100nx usdm has 122-126bhp the uk version with the GA16DE engine as in the UK almera SRi is around 100bhp maybe 106 but no more.
The uk almera SRi is available as a 3 or 5 door hatch back with the GA16DE power plant being a 1.6 litre Fuel injected twin cam 16 valve lump.It response rather well to conventional tuning and by all account equally well to turbo and N2O when converted by a professional. As standard the SRi is better than say the ford fiesta XR2I and no where near as common or unreliable . These cars are completly reliable when looked after.

and the VZ-R has only 197 BHP and not 200 in the second edition
where as the 200 sx and sunny/pulsar GTi-R have both a SR20det motor the 200sx has 200BHP where as the Sunny GTi-R RNN14 has 220 BHP 4X4
and the GTi N14/N15 sunny/almera/pulsar have 143 BHP
and the SR N14/N15 sunny/pulsar has 102BHP
and the SRi Primera/infinity G20 have 125BHP
and the GTe Primera/infinity G20 have 150BHP
the most of these cars ar based on the SR20de
motor with or without turbos
oh yeah the 100NX also runs the same motor as the sunny/pulsar N14 with 143 BHP
