Good Points: A fair range of stationery goods, though somewhat over priced at times.

Bad Points: Obnoxious sales staff who refuse to answer questions or apologise for mistakes.

General comments: WH Smith has a higgledy piggeldy selection of goods, compounded by sales staff with a very poor attitude.

I think they should put more items people will be interested in like books and diarys because people want to order these and I also think they need to design their webpage a lot better. I thought it was completley plain.

Ordered a week ago on a product that was 'in stock' (and still is) to be delivered in store in Sheffield. Still waiting. They've taken money out my account the day after ordering (there terms and conditions state they only do so when ready for dispatch). The online status of my order is still unchanged at 'in progress'.Reading their terms and conditions, FAQ's etc (accessed 28/02/08) they appear to be very vague on the whole ordering when it arrives etc... (when trying to loo up more details, so ...

Ordered a book on-line with an estimated 1-2 weeks delivery. After 3 weeks emailed W H Smith to find out where the book was. No reply despite the message saying they will reply within 48 hours. Wrote another email - no reply. Then 3 more emails. Still no replies. Phoned and was promised a phone call back as the person had to make some enquiries about my order. Yes, you have guessed it - nothing. Still waiting and waiting and waiting. Have now ordered the book elsewhere but I just want t ...

No good points, again didn't get what i ordered! Worst book store i have ever dealt with. Went in store to get a refund, the book counter was un manned even though plenty of staff who were not very helpful when i found them.

Absolutely terrible service. Did not have product in stock when i purchased it. 1 month later - product still had not arrived so got someone on their customer service team to re-order it for me. 1 month after that - still no product despite having paid for it 2 months ago. Eventually demanded refund which still has not come through. Worst online retailer i have ever experienced and i use a lot!

www.whsmiths.co.uk can be useful even if they don't have the item in stock that you want, because you could check if they sell it and then go to the shop itself if one is nearby. Good prices. The delivery is quick and much cheaper than some other shops I have bought items from. Over all good.

I usually find the online version of offline shops are pretty expensive comparitively and not worth looking at. Book shops have a particularly hard time when you consider the likes of Amazon and BOL are so well ensconsed in peoples' subconscious now. Think books online, think amazon right? I went to look at the Ottakars site earlier and found it no longer sells books online, then at Waterstones and found it now redirects to Amazon!! Two of the biggest high street names no longer even try to comp ...
