Good Points: HAD THIS A YEAR, IT PLAYS ANYTHING I PUT IT IN, ANY BRAND CDR, IT PLAYS DVD, CDDA, ANY VCD AND ANY MP3 (IN STEREO) AND SOME VOB'S! I HAVE UPDATED THE FIRMWARE A FEW TIMES...NO PROBS AT ALL!

Bad Points: SOMETIMES IT FREEZES SO I JUST TURN IT OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN AND ITS FINE. IT WONT PLAY MP3 ENCODED AT VBR RATES....

General comments: THE ENCORE DV-450 IS A GREAT AND FAIRLY CHEAP DVD PLAYER THAT I BOUGHT IN GAMESTATION HERE IN THE UK.

Some batches of the Encore DV-450 dvd player have faulty components which burn-out after six months rendering the product defunct but there is HOPE! I found the Aera450 web site and saved my original investment of 200 pounds by following the simple instructions.

I picked up one of these Encore DV-450 DVD players at a bargain price. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase. The grainy, almost pixellated blocks of colour on some dvd's proved annoying though, as I found my eye drawn to the offending areas. Sound quality is impressive when linked up to even the most basic speaker system.

The DV-450 DVD player is OK for a normal user (i.e. 1 to 2 DVDs a week) but if you are going to use it more intensely then better go for another DVD player.

This DVD player completely freezes up. No sign of the company still trading. A complete waste of £200 - perhaps watchdog should investigate. Im sure i'm not the only one.

Having viewed several discs on the Tesco's sold Wharfedale it very soon becomes apparent that this is a much beter quality player with more easily accessible - and simply better features - the principal reason for this is because the build of the DVD drive is exactly the same as you would find in a high-end home PC and for only £199 you really do get value for money.
