The Minolta 50mm f/1.7 lens is very prone to light flare. The images are not sharp. Check out samples on Flickr. I dumped Minolta after buying this lens and later selling it. I've been very happy with Nikon ever since. The coatings are way overrated. The images are not contrasty and have poor color separation. I am at a loss as to why people are raving about this lens, its junk!- Read Angevinn74's review (103 words)

This must be one of the best buys I've ever made.
Autofocus is very fast and quiet, Sharpness compares very well
with the 100mm Macro lens(Minolta) - and macros are generally
the sharpest lenses around, and it's cheaper than most of the
junky zoom lenses!!
There's really nothing I can complain about regarding this
lens.- Read Christiaan's review (60 words and 1 comment)
