“Bought my Kodak DC215 2 years ago as a first digital...”

Written on: 25/09/2002 by Johnno. (1 review written)

Bought my Kodak DC215 2 years ago as a first digital camera and have taken some good quality snaps.
I found the short battery life annoying so purchased some NiMh cells which sorted this problem and I also purchased a 128 MB flash card from Amazon, which gave me an incredible ammont of storage to play with.
Sadly this excellent little camera took an 18 inch fall off my car passenger seat last week breaking the internal locking mechanism on the battery tray so it no longer functions. As a result… Read Full Review

Written on: 22/04/2002 by Colin. (1 review written)

I bought the Kodak DC215 digital camera at a knock-down price of £70 from a retailer who seemed to have forgotten about it. I got nothing but the camera. A serial interface cost less than £7. OK, so the DC215 is a bit outmoded. I occasionally use a Fuji Finepix 2400Zoom at work, but that has far too many features for personal use. I like the look and feel of the DC215. I like the fact that the Manual is available on the Web. Above all, I like its ease of use. I could go on ... the LED screen… Read Full Review

“I bought the DC215 zoom digital camera by Kodak...”

Written on: 11/01/2002 by windaddiction. (1 review written)

I bought the DC215 zoom digital camera by Kodak because i got a good deal on it. (it was a return) I took it home and started taking pictures.
I pretty much liked everything about the camera. The wait time isn't too long between pictures and for the price the pictures are fairly good.
The one major plus this camera has is it's optical zoom, it makes up for only having one megapixel.
The only thing that is missing is more features like motion shots, and the abiltiy to make short movies… Read Full Review

i bought this kodak digital camera, a factory refurbished one for CAN$205 or about US$128 which is really a good deal. the resolution is pretty good for its price (its a 1 meg pixel camera), came with 4 mb CF card, which can store up to 55 pictures in the lowest resolution and quality, and its really easy to use.

the camera's battery life is too short (i think) because a new set of battery lasted only for about 50-75 shots. The lens cover is a cap that you put over the lens, not a… Read Full Review

Written on: 05/04/2001 by R. Waterhouse. (1 review written)

We have no prior experience of digital cameras but have found this camera extremely user friendly. The quality of the images is fantastic for the price of the camera. It has a great range of features. We have found it perfect for taking photographs of our daughter to create a cheap archive of her first few months and also to e-mail friends and family… Read Full Review

Written on: 19/03/2001 by Graham Clark. (1 review written)

I inherited this camera and I must say was sceptical that Kodak could produce a good digital model. I have continued to be surprised at not only the features that camera boasts for the money but also the quality of the images.
The standard 4mb card is a bit small but I have since purchased a 16mb card that gives plenty of scope -56 images at best resolution.
One must is the purchase of NiMH rechargeable batteries it makes the operational costs very reasonable and takes away the pain of… Read Full Review

The camera's weight is one of the reasons I bought it - some digital cameras feel insubstantial and cheap. Kodak's DC215 has a good solid feel to it.

Ronb.'s Response to 1215_Darren.'s Review

The battery life is a problem, but better than my brother's Polaroid. I've bought NiMH rechargables (four batteries and charger about $20) and that's definitely a cheaper way to go. Not only do the batteries last two to three times longer on each charge, but they can be recharged 500 to 1,000 times. I plan to buy a "universal" USB Compact Flash connection and that will also save batteries (and speed up downloads). But, if you can only get one -- get the batteries and charger, you'll save money almost immediately.

Superb value for money, and does not feel cheap. It may only be 1 Megapixel, but that is all
most occasional users will need until technology gets cheaper.
It uses AA battery cells - get 2 sets of NiMH batteries with
charger, and use the LCD only when necessary! A set of good batteries
will last less than 30 mins with constant use and the display on.

My camera has "crashed" once, and only taking the batteries out and
leaving it for an hour would fix it.

Newer alternatives starting to appear… Read Full Review

Written on: 17/09/2000 by Da Bears Shop. (1 review written)

We have tried other digital cameras in this price range - Olympus 360, Hewlett-Packard C20, Fuji DX9 - and found that the Kodak DC215 was the best overall. Although we agree with the other reviewers' "bad points", when you look at the PRICE of this camera all those extras requested would just increase the PRICE! We wish it had auto-focus rather than fixed-focus, but a 2X Optical Zoom is a fair trade off. We purchased this camera for taking pictures of teddy bears for our shop and although we… Read Full Review

Written on: 28/08/2000 by Damian Cartwright. (1 review written)

After spending the day shopping around for a digital camera, comparing sample photos of the different makes, and checking the features of each camera, I finally settled on this one by Kodak. With a clear photo, good contrast and realistic flesh tones along with the optical zoom facility (as opposed to digital zoom) and an attractive and compact design, this camera was excellent value for money. Having never used a digital camera before, I was surprised to find that I had it up and running… Read Full Review

Written on: 30/06/2000 by David Rawsthorne. (1 review written)

The quality of it's hi-res pictures is good, but not perfect, with a few just-noticeable distortions depending on light angle and strength. I would recommend this for those new in Digital photography, or as a cheap general purpose camera. The price is well suited to those on a limited budget, but plan on buying an AC adapter, NiMH batteries and charger (2 sets would be better) and another memory card - 16MB or more would be the best bet.

The Millennium edition has a USB card reader, so may be… Read Full Review

Written on: 16/05/2000 by GARY smith. (1 review written)

The DC215's high resolution mode takes good clear pictures. I have tried taking photo's indoors & outside and so far the pictures taken have been comparable with a 35mm camera when viewed on the computer screen. The camera has an auto flash setting which so far has produced good results. If you are looking for a relatively cheap camera I would recommend this one… Read Full Review
