Good Points: Not bad prices.
Bad Points: Claims are a farce - so pray you dont have an accident!
General comments: Wouldn't use Elephant (Along with Admiral & Diamond- all the same group) - average prices but didnt mind as was hoping I was paying for a good service. Albany Assistance deals with their claims and never come across anyone so useless. In excess of 70 phone calls due to unsafe hire car and still not changed and they dont care/have the power to do anything about it. Took 5 weeks for their garage to even produce a quote for the work to be done and their claims engineer cannot even start the car, never mind diagnose whats mechanically wrong with it.

I found Elephant Car Insurance quite cheap for my 1.6 corsa and only been driving a year, was with there sister company admiral before. In may 2009 i had slight accident in a carpark involving me reversing into a wrongfully parked car and too my suprise when i told them about this accident they dropped my premium by over 200 pounds, being curious i asked on what reason was it dropped, they said because i wasn't to blame so therefor if i have another accident it more than likely not my fault agai ...

Obtained a quote for my Daughter on-line from Elephant Car Insurance (She is 18) and thought it must be an error as the quote was less than half what we had been paying over tghe past 12 months to the RAC. I called them to verify - and it was correct. No hidden clauses whatsoever! I have now placed our business with this company and we are saving £100/mnth! Seriously! Very helpful and thorough when calling this company based in Cardiff. I would certainly recommend calling them.

If you like wasting your time, and money, and enjoy being messed around then elephant is the right company for you. If not i would stay well away.
I had an crash in my car, and phoned them the same day to report it. They assured me that it was going to be sorted straight away. It wasn't untill a month later that i had to call them to find out what was happening, fortunatly i was still able to drive my car. They did not know then, so called me back the next day to tell me that my car had been w ...

Elephant gave me a competitive quote and I had no problems when dealing with a (no fault, no 3rd party to claim from) claim in December. I did have to take some of the initiative in speaking to garage etc. but work carried out quickly and courtesy car provided too.

My wife recently traded her old corsa in for a fairly new fiat punto and so i decided to try for additional quotes as i assumed that as the old car was traded in for scrap value the policy was null and void. I tried admiral multi car (a sister company of elephant) and this turned out £20 a month cheaper than with elephant. I write to tell Elephant Car Insurance the circumstances and they send letters demanding a total of £170 for 2 cars even though i wrote to cancel and took my ins ...

My car was damaged by a driver who then drove off. I have been told I am not entitled to a courtesy car (Although my policy doc says so), my insurance has been cancelled with half a days warning and the car has been written off despite no person coming to value the car. Ignore what they descibe as 'total loss' on the site, if the repairs come to more than 60% of the value they decide they claim it is written off.

I phoned to ask a question as whilst parallel parking I felt a light bump., the car behind me had a broken bumper which i thought maybe i did. Someone walking on the pavement said i just hit kerb but I left a note on the other car incase and phoned Elephant just to ask advise , they wouldn't answer my question and asked lots of questions and details instead and then said nothing more. The owner of the car phoned 1 hour later and said the bumper was already broken and i didnt do anything. I phone ...

My initial experience with Elephant was good - until I had to make an accident claim.
I called Elephant and a lorry was arranged to come and collect my car as it was not drivable. I was referred to a garage called I have fully comp insurance and was told I would receive a call from the garage regarding a courtesy car. The garage informed me that no courtesy cars were available at that time. Eventually through constant nagging of Elephant, I was provided with a hire car.
The courtesy car was ...

Will insure you cheaply, but it gets difficult when it comes to make a claim. Took nearly a year to pay out on a straightforward fire claim when an electrical problem caused a fire in my cars engine bay. They tried every ludicrous trick in the book to get out of paying when it was a simple case, costing themselves way more in storage fees for my written off car than they eventually had to pay out in settlement to me.
Renewal premiums didnt tend to be as attractive as the first years so it may b ...

Elephant are a good company. Their customer service is excellent. I was insured with them for a year, but when I bought a faster car, their renewal price was extortionate. I then decided to go with another insurance company.
Elephant is an excellent company. Very helpful and if they give you a good quote, its worth insuring with them

Having got my original quote online and was happy with what was offered, rung up to organise monthly payments... found out there was loads of hidden charges that is not showed or displayed on there face website. By going monthly they it amounts to an extra few hundred pound a year.
On the plus side, they are quick with sending the insurance certificates out, and the welcome pack is very nicely presented.

Elephant.co.uk customer service is so bad they claim we did not cancel the automatic renewel. We gave up trying to call after 20 mins at a time on most occasions. We sent a letter in writing to cancel which they have not acknowledged this yet. They think we have to pay a couple of months insurance even though we were insured with someone else a lot cheaper. So we not only cancelled they also feel we should be paying for a service that was covered by a good insurance company.

I went with Elephant because they were the cheapest by about £300. I had heard bad things about their customer service and so was very nervous about how they were going to be when I informed them of a minor car accident. I got through on the phone straight away, the person was friendly and my car was picked up by the garage and a courtesy car delivered the next day. Couldn't ask for more.

I recently received my renewal notice from Elephant car insurance and it had risen considerably so I hunted around for another quote. The cheapest I could find was Diamond. Earlier this year while parked, I was hit by a car, not a lot of damage only a scratch on the bumper. The other party involved did not want to claim on their insurance policy as it was a minor scratch, so they settled privately. I reported the incident to Elephant even though no claim was made on either parties insurance poli ...

I have used Elephant for several years, my wife and I both have a policy. Our Saab had the roof slashed a couple of years ago, repaired without any hassle. Last year we lost our car in the floods, again no problems; we had the payout within two weeks.
Unfortunately the car on the other policy was set subject to an arson attack at Christmas time; again absolutely no problems, received the payout. I am surprised at other peoples experiences here!

My lawfully parked 1 month old car was hit by a bus which did not stop. The driver and bus company were identified and they admitted full liability. Elephant's legal team dealt with the claim, and the bus company paid for everything. No NCB was lost, no liability was placed on me for the accident, the bus driver was prosecuted for failing to stop after an accident, and then my renewal came - up from £425 to £850, for a blameless incident!

I needed a window replaced but Elephant made no effort to help when three different glass repair companies could not come out and fix my window. I had to drive my windowless car all the way home in the rain and wait a week for a repairer to replace the window. I feel Elephant simply dont care.

My dealing with Elephant Car Insurance was good, although there is a small clause in the policy which means if you have an accident they CANCEL your policy and if you pay monthly, they will take the remaining months premiums out of your settlement. Effectively I paid for 12 months insurance and got 4.
Also the extra courtesy car option-don't bother. They cancel your car hire 2 days after you receive your cheque - NOT 2 WORKING days, from receipt. I got mine on a Saturday and this doesn't even al ...
