I had to send photo copies of my passport to convince them), and then threaten CCJs....Jokers...Avoid, Avoid, Avoid...and they were charging more than other insurers for a 10 month 3rd party fire and theft policy what I could get for 12 months fully comprehensive. Policy had protected NCD but come renewal in February policy had jumped from £328 to £658. 100%+ increase in cost and they tried to tell me this was normal and actually would have been more without the NCD protection. So, counsil likely sent you the bill for the lamp post because you are the one who broke it. If there is no third party involved, then of course your at fault, you have no one else to claim off but yourself. Call Assist (their agents) take calls but also fail to resolve the ongoing confusion. We took the policy out in May 2011. It is illegal to obtain insurance without a valid driving licence. Unless declared correctly i.e. full uk licence or provisional licence etc... then your insurance can be invalidated. This may have been the cause of your insurance being cancelled.
