Splash DVD - I was wondering if anyone else has noticed a new online shop called 'Blah'. They are situated in Jersey. I can't help thinking that this company is Splash DVD under a different name. I just got a spam from Blah having previously been burned by Splash, and yes, I waited for an hour to get through on an 0870 number to vent my spleen at a customer service person at their service. Free postage? Cheapest prices? Online vouchers? Yeah right!!!!

Its companies like Splash that shake your faith in internet shopping. I ordered 3 CDs and waited 7 weeks for delivery, only to find they'd gone into liquidation and I wouldn't get a refund.

Splash DVD has been LIQUIDATED - this company ceases to exist as of 9th March - whilst that's good news for all internet customers - it's unlikely that people waiting for a refund or goods will ever get a penny back. Most money in these cases goes straight to the banks and debt recovery offices.

Just for your interest, 22,000 customers are still waiting a refund or product !!! (read more)

I ordered an item from Splash DVD that turned out to be faulty. Returned it by recorded delivery on 31/01/2003. They signed for it on 05/02/2004. Took me until end of February to get my refund. However, they didn't pay the postage back to them as they denied having received the item back. Recorded delivery apparently meant something different to them. It would have cost me £2 to get a copy of the signature, which I almost did on principle. Luckily, Jersey Trading Standards took the matter up... (read more)

I ordered 6 DVD's from Splash back in January. I only recieved one. I spent £46 with them and now it looks as though I wont get the money back as I used a debit card.
I ordered some DVD's off MVC a while back. One of the DVD's was not available at the time but they sent the others very quickly and only charged me for the ones they despatched. They only charged me for the remaining DVD when it was ready to despatch. Why couldn't SPLASH do that?

Splash dvd are the worst company I've ever come across, would tell you not to shop with them, but they CLAIM they're having financial difficulties, so have closed down, but they must have made SO much money since they haven't sent anyone their orders, but still charged them. Hence my value of money rating is 0 because I've paid but got nothing.

I too have had the same problem. I ordered my CD on 02/02/04 and received no CD. I went on the website today to be informed that they no longer exist. They took my money and did not post my CD. I have already contacted Watchdog, Trading Standards Jersy and my Local Trading standards Office. Thank you for you link I will complain on here too.

Yes, of course it\'s bad news for the company\'s employees. But you are deluding yourself if you think that the company provided great service to its customers. In my case (and, it would appear, in plenty of others), the company always took money at the point of ordering, and only ever filled about 50% of orders. Thankfully, I obtained full refunds on all my undelivered purchases, and I\'ve not lost out, but I expect plenty of customers have lost money. And what\'s the thing about terms and conditions? Totally irrelevant. I for one won\'t mourn the passing of Splash, there are plenty of other, better suppliers out there; even if they cost a little more, they do at least keep their side of the bargain.

deann - I cannot believe you can come on here defending your employers - after numerous phonecalls and emails and letters I actually got my money back and in fact seem to remember dealing with you along the way. The fact is ok you have lost your jobs but thousands of innocent consumers have been duped by the disgraceful working practices of your company and to suggest that it is the consumers who are to blame is frankly insulting.

I order 6 DVD's back in January. One month later I actually recieved one of them. The others never arrived and now it looks as though I will never get back my money.
<br>Any decent person will feel embarrassed for working for such a disgraceful company, but you seem proud. I think that makes you just as bad as them.
<br>I wouldn't be at all surprised if SPLASH set up again under a different name conning the public once more.

For starters I will confirm that I was and still am pleased to have worked for the company and may I remind you all that whilst you all haven't had your refunds we haven't had our well-earned wages yet. Also as I commented before if you would have all took the time to read the terms and conditions before placing your order then you would all understand more. After all you wouldn't sign any contracts without reading the terms first now would you. For the person who commmented that I must be as bad as the others well if we were that bad why order from us and as I stressed before we worked very hard in there dealing with all the petty complaints from people who have nothing better to do than complain about goods worth a couple of pound.

I read their terms and conditions several times before making my order, and nowhere did it say that Splash would take payment and then never send customers the goods ordered. Those of us who were fleeced by this company find your attitude to what feels like little better than theft disturbing.

I ordered a DVD back in December 2003, they debited my credit card straightaway. The item which was intended to be an xmas present never appeared. They finally responded to one of my emails in February 2004 to say the item had been cancelled and they would refund my card, here on 6/3/04 I'm still waiting!

I have been waiting over a month for two DVDs from Splash DVD which have not yet arrived. I ordered on February 2nd 2004 and it's now March 3rd 2004.

I spent nearly 40 minutes in the telephone queue before speaking to an ignorant operator. I also sent a query by e-mail which has not yet been responded to. I sent that 8 days ago.

Hi, After a very annoying few weeks of no answears from e-mail and calls I called up barclaycard and they gave me a number for them which is a direct line to the *manager* tell them you are going to inform BBC watchdog.. everyone tell BBC watchdog and the Office of Trading Standards.

I also fell into their trap - took my money then decided to ignore my emails and telephone calls trying to chase the dvds. My tip though is to write them ane mail under the heading THANKS - in this request that they send you the name of the chairman of the company and other directors as you will need this if you have to take legal action to recover your money. Amazingly within a day I had had a response saying the money was already on its way back to my account and indeed I now have a full refund.

7 weeks after I made the mistake of ordering from this bunch of cowboys, my order has still not been completed and I cannot get a refund. This despite being promised completion of the order before Christmas!

Look at the other reviews for this outfit. They are the worst retailer on the net in my experience. I've had to refer the matter to my credit card issue to try to get satisfaction.

What an error I made ordering from splash dvd, oh yes they are the cheapest by far but with that comes consequences.
Buyer be ware they will take payment immediatly and then its a waiting game to see if your purchase arrives???
As for customer service its a joke they rarely respond to queries and as for status update on purchases thats non existant.

It was the cheap DVD prices that attracted me to Splashdvd but now I've realised that that its just not worth it. I made an order for some DVDs at the end of November for my boyfriend for Christmas... he's still waiting. Splash took my money straight away and said delivery would be 5-7 working days. Lie.

It took three e-mails to Splash before I finally got a reply, supposedly its currently on its way (I was also told this on the 18th Dec!)

Splash are very quick to take your money -they took mine on 18 December, but very slow to deliver. I am still waiting. That would not be quite so bad if they replied to e mails or had a phone system that you could get through on. I have complained to Jersey Trading Standards, Hitwise and Digisign and I urge every dissatisfied customer to do the same. Splash started out bad, they steadily got worse!

Splash have started helping themselves to my credit card now, by taking unauthorised withdrawals!

Splash DVD should be avoided at all costs. There are many other retailers out there that offer competitive prices, so you shouldn't be tempted by splash's prices.

I ordered a DVD for Xmas, and a month later I am still waiting. This is despite the fact that the order tracker says that it has been despatched. I have ordered quite a few dvd's from Splash. On the whole I have had few problems, though when it does go wrong, it is like many other reviewers on this site say - appalling.

The main problem seems to be with 'out of stock' items. If you order something that has just been released and they are going to be shifting plenty of, you seem to be ok, the stuff arrives fairly promptly, however there seems to be no rhyme or reason with what they have 'in stock'. I telephoned them on 21/11 as the item had not been despatched yet. (no e-mail yet). I was advised that the item was in stock and it will be sent in next 2 days.

Well this is rubbish! They lure you in with discounted prices but the way that you are treated after they have your money is terrible - emails and phone calls are ignored delivery dates come and go without any action and they have the biggest list of fob offs you could imagine. (read more)

I have heard nothing but bad reports about their service, but unfortunately this was AFTER I had ordered something from them on the 27th October, this is a Xmas present for my wife which I am still waiting for!!

When you phone them you get the same explanation that it is out of stock, or it was in stock but the order that came in did not cover the orders they already had (well order more then surely!!) then the "Customer Services" person laughs at you when you ask any further questions!! ... (read more)

I ordered 3 DVDs on 18th Oct 2003; payment was taken the same day. One arrived on the 25th Oct, one on 13th Nov - after I emailed and asked where it was. I have still not received my last DVD - I have now been waiting 51 days! I have emailed 4 or 5 times and I have only once received a reply on the 10th Nov claiming it would arrive "...within the week". They don't seem bothered about replying to customer's emails - once they have your money they don't care! (read more)

Well, I had heard a few (!) bad things about Splash DVD but the price of £23.17 for F-zero (a Gamecube game) was too good to resist. To get this price I used a £5 off voucher, and the cheapest alternative was Amazon at £29.99. The delivery time said 3-5 days and I figured I could wait 2 to 3 weeks.

Well, I ordered it on 28/10 and recieved it on 06/12 - over 5 weeks waiting. Yes I have got it now and it is in perfect condition, but the wait wasn't a lot of fun. I would certainly only... (read more)

I really, really cannot express enough how much I urge you not to purchase from SplashDVD.

I was tempted by their money off vouchers and seemingly value for money prices, however I was unaware that Jersey is in a different time zone to that of the UK. From my experience they exist on a GMT minus 3 month basis.

Back in June of this year I ordered several CD's from a company called splashdvd.com. I had not received my goods months later so sent several e-mails complaining.
These e-mails were all ignored so I attempted to phone them. After an infuriatingly long delay I was told the goods had just come in and would be despatched to me at the earliest opportunity.

I ORDERED 6 DVD'S OF SPLASH IN SEPTEMBER. THE VERY NEXT DAY I EMAILED TO CANCEL 3 OF THEM. A FEW DAYS LATER I CHECKED MY ORDER STATUS ON-LINE. NOTHING HAD BEEN ALTERED. I TELEPHONED AND TOLD THEM. I have spent a lot of money with Splash DVD this year -- maybe £300 or more. I've always felt they were very good, and their prices are the lowest I can find.
I ordered Led Zeppelin's 2-DVD set recently, which was on their site as a 5-7 day wait. My other DVDs came in a reasonable time. I'd had enough after a 3-week wait for the Led Zepp DVD though, as you can imagine!

SOMETHING TELLS ME THAT YOU HAVE CONNECTIONS WITH SPLASH (FRIEND OR WORKER). HOW COME YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE WHO SEEMS TO GET RESPONSES FROM EMAILS. THEY EVEN HAD THE NERVE TO POST ME A DVD THAT WAS OBVIOUSLY SECOND HAND GOING BY THE SCRATCH MARKS AND THE DEFACED BOOKLET.

<br>Why would you want to treat them any other way?
<br>99% of companies are honest and law abiding. And 99% of them make mistakes. We're all human. If you want results from them then one strategy is to be respectful.
<br>I've dealt with customers in my business. Most are understanding. A few are just angry. I've offered them a full refund when we've made a mistake. Even when I offered them an extra gift worth £100 for their trouble, they were STILL angry. My sense is they are angry at everyone. This reviewcentre site is great, but it attracts the Mr and Mrs Angries. Let's say Splash has around 30,000 customers. That's a reasonable stab at a guess. A 1% error rate would generate 300 upset customers. Some will be so upset that they'll post on this site. Splash will still have 29,700 happy customers. If you're unhappy with Splash ring them and ask to speak to a manager. They'll go out of their way to help you, as they did me. Because it's important to them. If you just want to rant down the phone you'll lose them, but if you calmly ask for an explanation, and a solution you may come off the phone feeling a lot better. Good luck! :)

I personally afforded splash every courtesy when I ordered my DVD's and was willing to give them the benefit of my doubt for well over a month - I phoned them regularly to find out the status of my order and never ranted down the phone. A fat lot of good it has done me as I have no DVD's and no refund after over 3 months. It is true you can't please everybody all the time, even in business, but the fact remains that Splash has upset alot more people than is necessary - Just look at play.com's reviews on this very same site. They're not angry people (bar the odd one) but very satisfied customers that I number myself among. The fact that Splash DVD has now taken to naming and shaming upset customers on their website is in the worst possible taste, unprofessional and quite frankly makes you wonder if Splash give a toss about their customers at all. Splash really need to sort their attitude out and a good start would be admitting that they have let an unacceptable amount of people down - An apology on this website would be a much better idea than the fake reviews that they regularly post.

I ordered a box set and several individual items from splashdvd.com. First thing's first - the delivery estimates on the sites are complete lies. Most of my items were advertised as usually dispatched within 5-7 days. In fact, they turned up after one to two months had passed.
